Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Information & Questions

Heads up - we spent over an hour waiting for the bus back to AOA after Hollywood Studios closed for the night last Thursday. Probably had to wait for 15 or so buses to come before the line up area was visible again... Only got to our room around 10:30 or so.

Otherwise we had no major issues travelling to and from our room. We found that if you leave the hotel after 9am you are punished with long lines at the bus stops. Make sure you leave before then!

On our last day we were bussing to MK and then had planned to walk over to the Contemporary for 7:30 breakfast at Chef Mickey's - the bus driver drove everyone who had reservations over to Contemporary and Grand Floridian after letting people off at MK - was such a great guy!

That's pretty normal for all resorts at closing. We have found we just wander in the stores till things clear a bit then head to the bus stop.

It did seem like the non value resorts had way shorter lines but maybe it was just that specific day - I might do moderate next time since it's just 2 of us.

Was just at AoA for the 1st time this past weekend (9-9 to 9-11-16), we stayed in Building 2 Room 2827 in a Cars Suite. It was a nice place to stay. The only complaint I have was the A/C. With it set at 65° the best it could do at night was 70 and 75 during the day. If we have the chance we would still stay there again. I took my Ricoh Theta 360 camera all over the Cars section, it was too hot out to go past the big pool. The camera actually overheated 2-3 times from being in the sun.

These are all 360° pictures, just click on the link and you can move the picture around with your mouse. Some of these I didn't get to take till we where checking out, so the room isn't perfectly clean.

THANK YOU so much for these pictures - we are staying there later in December and thoroughly enjoyed this preview!

where do they show the movies at? i've seen and read that the screen is next to one of the nemo buildings and it can be loud in that room. anyone know about this? i need to request a room today. any suggestions? i'm looking at bldg 4 in room 4813 for a close walk to buses, parking lot, food court, a pool view, near cars buildings, and quietness.

The movies are shown on the lawn outside of building 5. If you look on the map on the first post of this thread, it would be approximately where the "55" and "58" are in the "5501-5840" on building #5. Does that make sense??? We were in a Nemo Suite in Building 5 this summer and I was also concerned about the potential for noise from the movies, though I'm not sure why as we had plans every evening we were there so we were never in the room while the movie was being shown. :D I do think there is the potential to be able to hear the movie in the rooms that border that area especially if you are trying to sleep in a quiet (no TV on) room. Fortunately, the movies don't run too late at night.

Similar to your preferences, we wanted to be close to the buses and food court and in a quiet location as well as on the first floor. We didn't want to be facing the pool because I had read that you can hear the pool noise from the rooms facing the pool especially on the first floor. And like I mentioned, I was concerned about potential noise from the movies. I requested room 5520 and we were assigned 5518. It was perfect for us. Close to everything including the pool, but facing the lake so it was very quiet. I think your room request will be good for you as long as you don't mind a little potential noise from the pool. I made sure to mention *why* we were requesting that specific room (quiet, first floor, near pool but not facing it, etc.) so the assignor knew that we just wanted to be in that general area and didn't necessarily need that specific room. We've been in a 4th floor suite right by the stairs in both of the Lion King buildings on prior trips and found those rooms to be very quiet. Granted, we weren't facing a pool, but we had very little foot traffic and hall noise. We had a similar experience on the first floor in the Nemo building because of our room location. If we had been on the hallway along the pool we would have had more foot traffic noise. One thing to be aware of is that if you plan to use the elevators, you will have to walk to the center of the building and then back to your room. If you plan on using the stairs most of the time or don't mind the extra walking, that's not an issue. Just wanted to mention it.

Thank you for your info!!! We will have a stroller so the elevator is important to us. I was choosing room 13 bc it's on the end of the building, and I actually thought that was an elevator at the end next to our room. a momentary brain lapse- i knew better. thanks for the reminder!! but i was choosing room 13 also bc i thought it would be quieter on that end. now i'm thinking i might request a room in the middle??? oh man this has literally been the toughest decision to make of the entire 9 mo of planning!!

You don't even want to know how long it took me to figure out which Nemo room to request. First floor was very important to us on this trip as well as being close to the bus stops and food court. My husband would have liked to have been right by the door at that end of the building (basically, the same location you are thinking about but in Building 5). I knew there would be a lot of foot traffic in that and he wouldn't be happy about that so I had to figure out which room would still "feel" close to everything but also be quiet. It took awhile, but I finally found the right one. And I will request it again if we stay there on the next trip. We got very spoiled being able to get to the pool and food court in about 30 seconds. My only complaint was that I needed to get something out of the car twice during the week (we drive to Disney but only use Disney transportation while we're there) and it felt like a mile walk to get to the car. We were parked in front of the main building and I was wishing we had moved the car closer to the LK section so it would have been closer to our Nemo building.

Honestly, if you plan to use the elevator all the time, I'd request a room closer to the elevator. Just my personal opinion, but if you're going to need to use the elevators every time you come and go from the room, you probably don't want to have to walk half the length of the building to get to it and then walk half the length of the building to basically get back to where you started from (albeit 4 floors higher or lower). The nice thing is that the Nemo buildings are both relatively close to the main building so no matter where you end up, it will still be a fairly quick walk to wherever you need to go.

Checking in to a Cars suite on Saturday!
Are there hair dryers in the suites? If so, are they real or attached to the wall?

Also, I thought I read that the suites have coffee makers... yes?

Yes, suites have a kitchenette that includes a coffee maker.

There will be a hair dryer in the suites too although I don't know the status of whether they are wall mounted or not.

How comfortable are the table and couch beds in the family suites? My DH and I will be sleeping on them and I'm worried they won't be great for us.

Also, is the coffeemaker a single cup pod style brewer?

I slept on the couch bed in a Lion King suite in May and was totally fine...of course, I was exhausted every night by the time we got back to the room. It was a little firmer than I'm used to, but I didn't have any complaints. My friend slept on the table bed and liked it fine. I laid on the bed in the bedroom briefly and actually thought both the couch bed and the table bed were more comfortable.

From what I remember, the coffeemaker is a single cup brewer.

If my mother comes overnight once to babysit the kids and sleepover with us (she lives in Tampa), does she get to park her car in the resort lot for free? do I need to tell the front desk to charge me for an extra adult? We have a Cars suite so we're within capacity for the room, but she'll be driving and I don't want her to have to pay for herself. I'll gladly cover it.

In the past, the resorts gave out parking tags to put on your dash, but I have heard that has changed. If your mom is babysitting, you might want to add her to the room so she has full access to amenities at the resort without having to use the kid's bands. You can add her the day she arrives and tell them how many days she is staying. If she is the 3rd adult in the room, then you would need to pay a $10/night fee for the days she stays.
