Someone explain Figment

We have gone to Disney for the last 10 years (missed one year) and going back in August. We usually go to Epcot at least 3 days on our trips (always go for 10 days) and we have never set foot in the figment building (I know it's the one around the corner from the land). What is in this building? I remember someone saying about a ride but it can give you motion sickness? Is it a slow ride? Anything else to do in the building? We have to remember to visit it in August.

Pull it up on youtube. It's a cute clamshell type ride with 4D effects revolving around using your imagination and senses. Ideally for guests 2-9 years old -- young kids. Catchy soundtrack and Eric Idle narrating! After the ride there is a play area with some fairly dated computers, but fun music tools and other nick nacks.

Figment is 1 of my kids favorite rides. I have vertigo and I have never gotten motion sickness on it before. Its a cute ride, the song is a tiny bit annoying, lol, and there is 1 part of the ride with a not so nice smell, lol, but other than that its a cute ride. My kids always want a stuffed figment, I think we have about 10 stuff figments, LOL, they love figment I mean who doesn;t love a purple singing dragon, lol

The only way you'd get motion sickness on Figment is if you got it on Haunted Mansion, Little Mermaid or Nemo.

It's a favorite ride of DGD. She loves Figment. I have to admit, he is quite fun

It's not the old beloved version of the ride but it's not a fast ride.. There is some playful activities in the building after the ride with the theme of "imagination". and just behind the building is the water fountains that jump over the sidewalk.. There's never a line so it'll take you about 10 minutes to see it all next trip.

My daughter loves this version of the ride but I remember the original one which at one point was my favorite ride as a child.

Rode this for the first time last year - Given the popularity of Figment (toys, figures, pins and such) I was surprised that the pavilion/ride didn't seem all that impressive. Was it better/bigger earlier and they've just toned it down over the years? (Or am I just that spoiled with the new fangled stuff? :P ) (Don't get me wrong, it's a good ride - better than Nemo and Friends' "ride" I was just expecting something more grandiose)

Actually, in the day of FP+ there are lines. It was 45 min when we were there slightly before Christmas. 30 min is rather normal during a good chunk of the day. Good thing is it's easy to get as a 4th FP

If you search for it on Youtube, make sure to look for the original version as well as the current version. The original version featured the Dreamfinder and his pal Figment far more than they are featured now. Today, Eric Idle, Philip Brainard (from Flubber) and Wayne Szalinski (from Honey, I Shrink The Kids) feature more prominently, whereas they weren't part of the original.

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, with too much unnecessary detail. Yes. The original ride was quite a bit different than today's version, and was, I think, always quite popular with young families. Figment and Dreamfinder were the focus. Then they closed the ride and completely re did the ride. It was horrible (worse than the Tiki HousevInder New Management!). This is the 3rd iteration, where they have brought back Figment. Better than #2, but still not as good as the first, IMO.

The play area is also much smaller. There is a whole area on the second floor that used to be full of fun, interactive activities to play with after the ride. But for us its still worth doing once per visit.

I am pretty sure the motion sickness the OP is referring to was from "Honey I shrunk the Kids" or "Captain EO". You would have to have a super sensitive stomach to get sick on the Figment ride.

The original ride and play area really did spark the imagination!

The next generation ride was awful. The current version is a decent attraction. In all three versions, there is zero chance of motion sickness. Very slow and tame ride.

Another vote for the original Figment! Was one of our favorites...with the newer version, I don't mind if we skip it altogether!

Figment is awesome! I do miss the old version of the Attraction from a few years ago though. Also, he's @safetymom's very favorite!!! ::yes::

Yes, now that you said "captain EO", that is what I am thinking. Something with the the digestive system or something? Is there another ride in this building that causes motion sickness?

Another vote for the original version. Second floor also had photo contest exhibits. Was really nice to see great pictures.

Figment is wonderful.
My kids laughed at me for choosing figment as a fp+ selection as it took longer than the standby line.
The next time we visited the wait was indeed 45 minutes as a pp stated.

I shall continue to pick & choose fp+ selections :cutie:

Dmil (85 at the time) adored figment and was sad when the ride was over.
She had a great time playing afterwards.

Are you thinking of Cranium Command in what was the Wonders of Life Pavilion? It was a simulator ride that was much more nausea inducing than Star Tours will ever be! It was a great ride, but my stomach couldn't handle it.

Both Capt Eo and HISTK were just 3D/4D theatres, with no actual movement.
