Finally! Just booked a mid-size for 8/16-8/23 with Dollar for $136 using AAA code. Previous best was $161 a week ago. We had $140 last year for 9 days, so no complaints with $136 for 8 days this time around.

Thank you BJC15! I didn't think that I could do any better, but using the AAA code just knocked over $50 off my already low price so I am now at $146.35 for Aug 16-25 in a compact. Awesome!

I promised someone I would post here what I found in Alamos premium aisle yesterday. I should have posted right away because now I can't remember all of them. I think there were only 6 or 7 vehicles. I think there were at least 2 Maximas and at 2 Chrysler 300s and a Buick and something else. Most were black which I didn't want. There was 1 gray Maxima but it had cloth interior. We chose a Chrysler 300. It is white, leather interior, keyless, has sat radio. It is a very smooth ride and quiet interior-much nicer ride than the Chrysler 200 I had in May. I just asked my son if he remembers what else as he's pretty into cars but he just said they all looked the same.

Absolutely amazing plummeting prices with Dollar and to a lesser extent Budget. My Dollar rental for mid-size 8/16 - 8/27 using only AAA code is now down to $178 which is below last year. My backup with Budget for the same time is $194. Thanks to everyone for sticking with this thread and posting updates. It took longer this year for the prices to drop, but they finally did just in time.

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I checked Hotwire this morning. Was quoted $18.95 per day for a minivan!! Decided to bite the bullet, book and hope for the best! I got Alamo!!!!! So excited!!

We are thinking of moving over to a minivan via Hotwire as well....our dates are $21.20 per day. Its not knowing which agency we'll get that's killing me . I'm going to sleep on it and decide tomorrow. It would work out cheaper at this rate than our midsize SUV through National, as the SUV rental at $477 is in USD and the minivan via Hotwire would be billed in Canadian funds ($497).

So this evening, I took a stroll through the rental area on the B side of the terminal (I work at MCO). Mind you it was 11:30p at night, but a LOT of the cars were gone...Dollar had nothing in SUV, no minivans, no Standard. Was just full size. Looking at the other agencies, alot of them had empty spaces too...not sure what is going on in town, but there is a shortage of cars to be had

Cancelled my old and rebooked a new reservation for something like the 4th or 5th time this morning on Costco's website with Alamo as prices dropped yet again.

We went ahead and booked a minivan through Hotwire today. $497 Canadian taxes in for a 15 day rental. We were thrilled (and relieved!) to get Alamo .

Ah, now no more watching rates for the next week. I can refocus all of my efforts to packing!

For a brief period last night my Alamo rate dropped to $42.00 total for a 5 day August mid-size rental! I snatched it up and then went back in to see what the price of a SUV would be and the rate was gone.

My alamo standard (full) rate dropped drastically today. We are renting 8/15~8/28 (14 days), came to $229 with Costco and $30 coupon/week. Just looked and Standard SUV is $447 and Minivan is $469.
