March 29, 2013 8 Nights on the Magic

I too have been told I was crazy for driving but is cheaper than flying and makes the vacation longer.
can't wait for the drinks and sunshine.:hourglass
-2 here today I do not want to know what the wind chill was

It's a glorious 65 here at 7 pm!

I only have a 4 hour :drive: but I am going to print some pages for my son to have fun with. Who am I kidding, I love playing car games, too!

We're currently in Virginia, but lived in Goldsboro for 4 years! We loved it - such nice people!

I posted a link and then Christi recommended I merge all the lists. So look for the tabs at the bottom for FE #1, FE #2, and DisMeetOnly

The second half is:

Hi, We are in stateroom 8006. Please put us down for DisMeet Only. Thanks! Annie

We always drive unless its to the west coast. We have driven down to Fort Lauderdale even. My thought is for the 3 of us to fly is about 650. Gas and hotel is about 350 and that leaves 350 for Disney souvenirs. Plus it's fun to see new places and cities.

I am ready for a Bahama mama! Finished my last class tonight and did awesome on my exam. Ready for the next step. State board exam. Yikes!

It was going to be well over $3000 for all 6 of us to fly!

What's a bahama mama?!?!?

Wow that's a lot of Disney loot for 3000! A Bahama Mama is orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine syrup, coconut rum and rum. Very yummy if you like fruity drinks.

Yes it is, that's why we're going to be in need of major drinks after the 14 hour drive!!!

Drink sounds really good, I'll have to try it!

Ok I might be missing something here, but can we bring on any alcohol we want? Can we just drink it in the room or anywhere on the ship?

On a different note my fun "Days till Disney" countdown came today, we're all getting excited!!!!

I'm nervous about the FE though, is there anywhere I can look to find ideas on gifts for it? Also do we leave our names with the gifts or is it secret? I don't want to be the lame gift giver :-)

The bringing of alcohol is new to me. We usually just bring water and soda as the other lines we have cruised didn't allow bringing alcohol. So as far as what to bring others that are more of an expert on Disney can answer that. I do know that if you bring wine they charge a corking fee in the dining rooms. They frown upon large amounts in the public areas as an example someone bringing a cooler full of beer to watch sports in the lounge. I always bring a cup with a lid and pour my drinks in it while lounging around the pool. When at dinner or lounge I just buy from the bar.

There is an FE thread floating around the boards that has great ideas. Google also has ideas as well. A lot of people give candy, stickers, magnets, pirate stuff, glow sticks, post cards, something about their hometown or state just about anything.

Hi all,

I just reserved my first Disney Cruise a week ago and very new to this forum.
Been searching on the web for what to expect and what to plan for, I'm so glad I found this link. I would love to join the DIS meet n greet. Any words on how the FE work?

Thanks

Ps: do they have any church service ( mass) on board for Easter Sunday? Any thanks
I was also wondering the same thing and found this on the disney cruise website:

Question
Does the ship provide religious services?
Answer
During certain religious holidays, onboard clergy perform services. Check your Personal Navigator for more information, including locations and times.

What is a Days till Disney Countdown? How sad is it that I don't even know what it is and I just know that I need one, lol? We do a paper chain at the 30 day mark.

Lol. I ordered it on etsy. It's a cute little board with a Minnie head chalk board that you just write the numbers on. And it says days till Disney.

Disney allows you to bring a carry on of alcohol on board to be consumed in your cabin.

Unlike other cruise lines, if you buy booze in port - DCL does not take it.

However, if you purchase alcohol from the duty free store onboard, it will be held until the end of your cruise.

Beverage Policy
Question
What is the policy regarding bringing alcoholic beverages on board?
Answer
Alcohol is permitted on board. However, any fragile items (including alcoholic beverages) must be hand-carried on board in the carry-on of an adult Guest – age 21 or older (dimensions can't exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep).

Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.

Guests who arrive in the dining room, including Palo and Remy, with a bottle of champagne or wine will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.

Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from checked luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.
