April 3, 2012 will be Jodi's and mine 35th anniversary, and to celebrate we are going on a seven day Caribbean Cruise. The ship sets sail on March 31st from Fort Lauderdale, so we thought we would come in early and spend the day in Magic Kingdom on March 30th. If there are any DISDads would will be in MK on the 30th please let me know, so we can meet up for a Dole Whip and see if Jasmine will give us a kiss. :rotfl2:
I know you're going to ask so, we are sailing on Holland America, we've sailed with them before and they're Great. We looked at Disney, but two things held us back. One, this is the week before Easter and we felt that the Magic would be full of kids. Two, the price for a Balcony room on Holland was half the price for an Interior room with Disney. So, being the good DH I am, when She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed said Holland, Holland it is. :)

Did someone say Bacon???? ;)

Since little man's been born we haven't had much time to look at our plans for our January trip to WDW. Hopefully we'll get sometime this weekend to make sure we have all our ducks in a row, and ADR's set up...

Hope everyone has a great day!

Touringplans just bumped my after cruise stay in the World from a 2 out of 10 crowd to an average of 7.2537894568!:scared1: Too busy doing extra planning now thanks to that, either way, I'll be in the world in 3 weeks!!!

AND OWNAGE!

Any Home Theater Dad's out there?

My Panasonic A/V Receiver (bless it's heart) took a crap today.

Was thinking about the new Pioneer vsx-1021k with apple airplay....any dads have any suggestions?

It was only the largest grossing film in the history of the world at over $2.7 Billion (That's BILLION with a 'B'!)

I love the possibilities of combining the vision of James Cameron and Disney. It's a match made in heaven. I can't wait to see what type of technology they employ in bringing their visions to a theme park.

I agree that DHS would be a good park for it, but the available land around AK surely was a major factor. The blending of the environmental awareness and the fact that Pandora was such a non-industrial, heavily forested, animal-thriving world also helps mesh the project naturally with AK.

Not to pick a fight with my soon to be [defeated] DisDads FFB Nemesis, but $ do not equal staying power/popularity. I'm not saying that the trilogy, in the end, won't be worthy of Parkdom, but I think it's presumptuous to think that its going to warrant a 20-30 year commitment by Disney after one movie. As I said, there are plenty of other possibilities for Disney to pursue, not in the least the Marvel brand that they already have the rights to, or Star Wars Land (Build Endor at AK.....that's a WIN!)

With that said, I do see the eco-friendliness of Avatar fitting in at AK, and it may be the mostest awesomest ride/land they have at AK, it just feels......panicky. Like they jumped at the first offer anyone made that was close to competing with Potter.

Just my $.02. I'm sure I'll be wrong in the end, as I usually am, according to my wife.:thumbsup2

Cheers,
Indy

ok, were back from philly. here we go. the little spot is still there. the spot has some inflamation around it. meaning, doctors feel it is not a new tumor but a result of the stereotactic radiation. which is common. hes not to concerned about it but is going to watch it. if she gets any pain or trouble, they can put her on steroids but he doesnt want to do that unless she has problems. we go back nov. 14th for another mri and to see him again. so, in the range of. oops, spot on the film to brain tumor we have to go in and get it today, i think we got half decent news. it seems he remembers us as the disney family and is a fan himself. so, we are taking at good news. thanks for all the prayers, textes, concerns over that last few days!!!! he said go to disney world and have a great time!!!!:thumbsup2

That sounds like pretty good news, Dave!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 she got a call this afternoon from the doc., they had there tumor meeting last night. yes, tumor meeting. it is group of drs. that get together from jefferson with every specialist represented and talk about people and there tumors and the best way to treat them. before they do anything, the drs have to agree on a treatment. anyway, tammys doc. as he has many times, took her case to the meeting and they all feel its from the radiation treatment and the inflamation should go away on its own in time. he told us the effects of radiation ( im not sure if its all radiation or the type tammy got) can effect you from 6 to 18 months after treatment and he has seen cases that years later have popped up with symptoms. so tammys feeling a little better. not to nuts about having brain swelling or having to have another mri in 8 weeks but she is counting her blessings. ive never seen so many young kids with white canes as i did wednesday at wills eye hospital.:sad1: i have a hard time watching little kids stuggle with health problems.

Dave, glad things are looking positive.

Kids suffering is one of those :sad1: that always helps me get out of a self-pity party. One of my favorite lines from one of my favorite books is "...every misery missed is a new mercy".

Been a good day for me as well. I finally had some time to check in here because one of my major talks is done and I made it back to the office sooner than expected. I must be turning into a real geezer. I was running out of time and still had things to say.:rotfl2:

Time to check up on some emails as well. No point in heading home earlier than planned because DS, DD and DW were all probably snoring by 9:00 PM.

Ok, so we just moved to a new city and state. My son and I were involved in Cub Scouts last year (Tiger/Bobcat) and I was Asst. Den Leader. Almost all Dad led...camping, woodworking, carpentry etc.
At his new school/pack/den..it seems to be all mom led??? I went to the first den mtg...we wore our uniforms as we were used to. It was about 6 moms and a couple of high schools girls leading the den mtg of about 12 boys. We were the only ones in scout apparel. There did not seem to be much personal interaction with the boys, just rotating them through stations to "accomplish" activities. I tried to hang back (to see how they did things/ don't want to step on any toes).
I was very disappointed....not with the moms, I'm glad they were leading. Where are the dads? My son also plays football and almost every dad is there for every practice T/Th 5:30-6:30 and games on Sat. Not one other dad bothered to take his son to scouts on a sunday afternoon!?
What are y'alls thoughts?
I am more than happy to try to help the den, but not real comfortable being the only dad. I'm also not sure all the Leaders/helper s are certified/youth protection etc.(high school girls) I can do alot of the activities with my son outside of the meetings, but this so different than we were used to.

Any scouting DisDads...advice?
Thanks for the chance to vent.
