2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

As I have probably mentioned before, the visit we'll be making to BCV is only our second trip to WDW, the first having been in 2006 when four of us stayed at OKW, which we really enjoyed for its spaciousness. For those of you who have stayed in both places:

I understand that the total square footage in a 1-BR villa is somewhat less at BCV than at OKW. In your opinion, is this difference significant enough to affect our enjoyment of the accommodations? Or do all of the other advantages BCV has, such as SAB and the proximity to Epcot, effectively counteract the smaller rooms? (If it helps your analysis, there will be only three of us this time around.)

Thanks!

Hi experts!

My brother is hoping to book a king room at the YC or BC for his honeymoon in October. I know there are very few King rooms. Does anyone know if there are more at YC or BC? Does it help to book club level? Are there any King rooms even on club level?

Any suggestions for romantic ideas not involving a King room at the YC/BC?

Thanks!

Your best chance would be at YC standard view, or garden view.

I know there's at least one at the YC CL lagoon view because I had it last October with my DD. We asked to be moved to another room with 2 queens. We were moved and had 2 queens and a daybed lagoon view.

Good luck to your brother!

He could rent a boat for the Illuminations fireworks or the fireworks at the MK. I believe some of them even offer a romantic dinner.

How are the laundry rooms at the BC? Anyone know how many washers and dryers there are? TIA

They don't have the tenders there any longer? Darn it!!! I was counting on those for the one evening I don't have a dinner ADR. Maybe if enough of us complain to Special Diets then they'll do something about it. There should be SOMEWHERE at the resort where people with allergies can get CS food to eat. We shouldn't have to pay room service prices just to be able to get food without sitting down in a TS restaurants. I'll definitely ask Special Diets about chicken tender availability when we're closer to our August trip.

You can order food to go from Beaches & Cream, right? I suppose a bunless burgers from there will suffice (my kids can't eat the allergy buns) if we can't get the tenders. I'd rather be able to order from HH though because I would bet it'll be much faster to place an order there than waiting in line to order at B&C. Our lunch ADR that day is at 12:25 so assuming finishing around 2:30 (with allergies it takes SOOO much longer to eat because of waiting on our food; not complaining in any way, just explaining) that means we won't want dinner until after 6pm so I'm assuming huge wait times at B&C at that point. Sigh.....

HH no longer has the allergy free chicken tenders because they no longer offer chicken nuggets on their menu. I was told they do not offer any type of chicken at HH and they will not make it for you there. One possible suggestion though I shudder at even writing this is... the BC Marketplace. See if they will call a Chef and as they do offer these at sit down locations they might make them for you. Not sure it would be any faster than a sit down though. Maybe an email to special diets asking specifically for availability might help.

However.... great news for you is that they do have burgers at HH. I just do not eat red meat to this was not an option for me.
As far as I'm aware you cannot order take out meals from Beaches 'n Creme. They have a take out counter but this is for ice cream only.

Good luck :wizard::wizard::wizard:

I may join your DISmeet. I have really enjoyed this thread for the past few weeks - you are a great group. We will be at the BCV from July 23 - 31st. I am a long time disboard member but never made an actual meet!

It depends on the number of people in your family and their ages. We have no problems with a one bedroom at BCV but prefer a 2 bdrm for the extra bed and of course the extra bathroom.:thumbsup2
I do think that BCV location and SAB more than make up for the difference in size.

Check page one of this thread. Dee has it all listed with prices and locations.

With appologies to Dee, here's the page one data:
Laundry Information

Self-service laundry rooms are located near the BC quiet pool and near the YC quiet pool. Another small laundry room may be found on the first floor of the YC, near the side exit (wedding gazebo side).

Washers are High Efficiency machines.

Both washers and dryers cost $2.00. Washers run for about 30 minutes. The sign in the laundry room says the dryers run for 20. Users have reported the dryers run for up to 30 minutes on regular and permanent press cycles.

Valet Laundry Service is also available for an additional charge. Price List for laundry services available in resort rooms.

Hi Heatherbelle-

That is great news that a garden view is possible for you!!!

Teena will be off the boards for a few days. Her daughter is visiting from out of town and then she is staying AT THE BEACH CLUB with her family.

I'll attempt to help you out, but perhaps others might have some better info for you- First- are you staying Yacht Club or Beach Club?

The Yacht Club has rooms that look out onto the wedding gazebo. I believe at least some of these are garden view. I don't believe any of the Beach Club rooms, garden or otherwise, overlook the gazebo.

Can someone confirm?

If this is correct, then I think "wedding gazebo view" is an excellent request to make!

Hi

Yes its the Yacht Club that we will be staying in. I've been in touch with Disney and they have confirmed exactly which rooms are Garden View and what to put on my booking to help secure one of those rooms. So fingers crossed.

Only 16 months to go, so excited. I never ever thought we would stay at the Yacht Club again as its very expensive when coming from the UK. I Love my DH. Only thing is we can't go back again thats for sure, but hoping that Disney will be back in the Med for 2013. Thanks everyone for their help.

We had only stayed OKW and then did BCV one summer and I was stunned at the size difference. Just the whole layout is bigger. NICE HUGE laundry room at OKW non existent at BCV. Little cupboard thing...HUGE bedroom and way bigger living area. I personally was REALLY disappointed at first and was considering moving but the ability to walk to Epcot and DHS was great and of course SAB.....We are a party of 3 and I really appreciated the size of OKW...Personal preference but if were booking NOW today in the summer months to enjoy SAB I would go with BCV. If it were a colder off swimming month, OKW.

Does the beach club have the room service in the morning where you leave the menu with the items you picked on the door knob the night before and they will have breakfast ready for you the next morning at a certain time. My cousin is headed to the beach club tonight and she was asking me if they have that and for the life of me I can't remember if they do or not. I know on the disney cruise they had this because we used it but I can't recall ever doing this at the beach club but its probably because I am not a big breakfast person.

This is the In Room Dining Breakfast Menu from allears website. I don't know if they have a card to fill out- I suspect that you call from your room phone. Perhaps you can do that the night before:

It will be nice if they use that system since we are thinking of doing room service on our last morning at BC....good question.

If they do, it would be tucked inside the room service menu. At least that's where I recall seeing it at the MK resorts.

Does anyone remember that with the new flat screens are the extra HDMI
slots accessable? I think i remember them being in the back of the lcd and behind the frame they rest in making then inaccessible...is this correct or can the extra HDMI slots be accessed?

Looking to just watch some disney movies at night from my laptop
