We are probably going to be first time POPers (although we have visited the POP food court several times) next March and we were wondering what is the least requested section? 1990's and 80's would be my guess. We actually want to be near the parking lots as we have a car and drive to the parks. We would also like to be near a "quiet" pool. Are there laundry rooms by each pool not just the Hippy pool?

I am so excited I could burst!!!

I don't know if I mentioned this here, but the trip is not only last minute but a complete surprise for DS. When he gets up for school that AM we are taking him to the airport instead of the bus stop :ssst: I bought him an "I'm Going To Walt Disney World" T shirt from the Disney Parks section of disneyshopping.com to wear as well. I cannot wait to see the look on his face! :goodvibes

======================

I have been in countdown mode for about 2 weeks now. That's awesome about surprsing your son! I love doing that to my daughter. I may steal the "I'm going to Disneyworld" shirt idea. She will be in pre-school for a couple hours before we leave, and that's the perfect shirt for her to wear that day!

Yes the 80's and 90's are the least requested and the farthest away from the main hall and food.
Either one is close to a parking lot, 90's may have a small advantage there, depending on the building you are in.

NOt sure about the laundry as I don't do that on vacation. LOL
The 80's has a quiet pool, the computer pool. Very cool. That is usually the one we swim in.

You will love POP!!

Hey there! We keep meeting like this.

We stayed in the 80's last year and it was really close the parking lot and the pool.

Not sure about the computer pool, but there is laundry by the bowling pin pool - 50's section.

Hey there! Did you book your trip for next year? I see they extended free dining till September 2011. Unfortunately our March dates are blacked out for any discount, at least at this time. That is why we went ahead and switched from POFQ to POP to stay within our budget. The more I read about POP I really think DD would enjoy it there! I know we all enjoyed eating in the food court both this year and last. Thanks for the info everyone! I zoomed in on the POP map, and it does look like there is a guest laundry in the 1990's/80's courtyard. Unfortunately in March I have to pack both warm and cool weather clothing and this past March we ended up having to wash our cool weather clothes because we ran out of them mid-trip.

You guys have me so excited that I chose POP :dance3: !!! I agree with the not spending extra $$$ for a moderate (stayed at CSR last year and it was like an extra 2 feet of space:sad2:...big deal!) I was torn between ASMo (because it looks so darn cute there) and POP. I read both threads of each place and you guys REALLY love Pop, plus the fact that Pop has its own bus and doesn't share (like the all stars) sold me! I also like that Pop is so close to DHS and EPCOT too. SO LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR OCTOBER TRIP:cool1:!!!! How is the weather late October...still pool weather?

I love the smoking section. LOL! You see the same people each day and it's like you become friends and start asking about how the previous day went.

So glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. :goodvibes I have met the most interesting people, and had the nicest conversations, while sitting in the smoking areas at Pop and in the parks. Hope to meet some more "exiled smokers" at Pop in February!

Thank you! Love it! Wish they had pink in the bigger sizes - my daughter is a 5, and the pink only goes to 4T.

Off topic - your hockey team took out my hockey team for the Stanley Cup.....grrrrr :headache: LOL

Yeah, I had never even see it in those colors until today. I got DS the maroon one since he already has a gray 2010 shirt from our June trip.

As for hockey, I wish I could say I was sorry, but I'm not! :rotfl: If you only knew how long we Chicagoians have waited for that Cup!!!!! For the team to do the dramatic turn around it did in such a short time after the long time owner passed away was amazing!

We were a mod family and after we stayed at pop last year. We are now love pop. We stayed last year for free dining. Going this year for free dining. Booking tommorow evening for free dining for 2011 for the same dates. We could afford to do a moderate but my girls pefer pop. The only thing we miss is the fridge. So we are renting one this year. And yes 80's and 90's where very quite last year. We went to the pool and there were 3 people and the entire pool. Where we stayed in the 60's non-pefered and the flower pool was busy every day all day. But I sort of liked the busy part of the resort.

We will be staying at the Pop again in Oct, this time we will be having someone using crutches and would like to request a room that will be easy to access. We do have a preferred room booked.

We want to request the first building, first floor facing the hippy pool. Anyone know what those room numbers are?

I think it is 5461 which would be pool facing and 5161which would be the first room on the back side of same building.

Anyone know??

Room 5461 would be on the 4th floor.
You want to request 51 something
We have stayed in the 4000 building facing the hippy dippy
pool and our room number was 4110 perfect location.
We have also stayed right around the corner same building
bottom floor from pool in room 4117 (2times) and this last trip
4113. All excellent and close rooms to pool and main building.

We gone back and forth between the different levels of resort from Deluxe, Moderate to Value (All Stars). There is something to love about all of them. We are excited to be trying POP for the first time. DD has autism, so a quiet area of the resort would be better us for but the 60's looks like the most fun!

Yes we are booked for 9/3/11 - 9/13/11 with free dining. We upgraded to the regular dining plan though.

COOL! We used to get the regular DP but we found it hard to keep ADR's with DD so in 2009 we did the QSDP which worked better for us. We did it this year too and plan to do it in 2011 as well. We do schedule a couple of ADR's and pay OOP. Chef Mickey's is always a must!!!

Speaking of ADR's, how easy is it to drive from POP to AKL. We want to do a breakfast at Boma.

Yeah for you! We are booking our package tommorow evening for POP for 9/23 to 10/2. Almost the same dates as this year. I only have 100.00 saved since we just paid off our package for this years trip. But dh gave me the :thumbsup2 to book this week.

Just wanted to see my ticker! :rotfl: We leave in 6 days for our 1st Disney vacation!!!! So excited!!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo: I was already super excited to begin with, but you all have gotten me even more excited because you love Pop so much!!! :cheer2:  :yay:

Please help with a room request. It is me and DH celebrating our anniversary - no kids! I would like to be relatively near the food court and quiet. We have a non-preferred room. Do you have to request king bed? or is that a room type you have to reserve? Refurb room would be nice, but not necessary. I think the design is a little boring.

I guess we mostly care about the king bed. Then location. Then quiet. Then refurb.

Thanks,
Maggie
