Its terrible isnt it?

your sister needs a boot up her bum ;)

My mums uncle died after being with his wife for 40 years, he left her everything, then it turned out they were not married, then it turned out he had a son that come out the woodwork, they both knew, all of us never, WHAT a mess, he had all the rights, she had none, it was terrible what she went through at her age.

Someone I know had a similar issue. Her partner died, she had put in all she had to their house, then his children came along and took everything! She didn't get any money back as there was nothing in writing and they weren't married. Worse thing was he knew he was ill and still didn't put anything in writing to protect her! She lost the money from selling her flat as he had just paid it in to his mortgage! Definately the peice of paper means something insituations like this!

I know with my friends its not the bit of paper its the financial security that worried them, families can become horrible after someones dies, I am sure every one can tell a story or two about this, I certainly can.Not that I am saying your family are horrible Erik and Jason but certainly I know len will be fine if I died, happy days:laughing: Actually, there is a bit in my will re my beagles to make sure they are cared for if anything happens to us,:confused3daft I know.

Our friends in WV have it in their will that we will get their Goldens if they pass on. I asked her if that included the cabin too??? I knew the dogs love it there. They laughed up a storm!!!:lmao:

Ok everyone I need some ideas for the wording on the wristbands - we can only have 25 characters including spaces. What I came up with was:

Disney Magic WBTA 2010

this is 23 characters so it gets in under by just a few!

Any other ideas?

Krisann

I think this is good!

I agree completely. In my own family, my youngest sister refuses to speak to any of us as we won't continue to support her now that she has spent all of her inheritance from my parents. She wants our family Lake House to be sold so she can have more money so we put it on the market but no offers in 5 years. Since it is fully paid for and costs less that $5k in taxes, upkeep etc., we want top dollar. This is not the market to get top dollar so she just will have to patient. She sends threatening registered letters to my sister who just ignores them as she has full discretion in the trust as to what to do with the house.

My parents supported her until 5 years ago when my father passed away. It was a rude awakening as my sister put it that the bank of Walter and Elaine closed (names of my parents).

She is 43 years old, owns no property and lives with a TF BF. TF BFs parents control the purse strings, own the house in a trust that he and she live in and thus even though she has put over 100K of her own money in it, has no rights to any proceeds if the house were ever sold. TF BF trust allows him to live rent etc. free for his life. Sister works at a low paying job even though she is highly educated so she can be "free" to care for TF BF when he has one of his "I am sick" episodes.

I have never met him as he has no interest in knowing any of our family. We have all tried but he is indifferent to meeting any of us. Only has met two of my other siblings once in 10 years at a concert and he didn't say much to either of them.

Now after that rant, back to cruise planning!
!

Families hey???:sad2: Your parent's love did nothing to help your sister did it?

Its terrible isnt it?

your sister needs a boot up her bum ;)

That is awful and so sad.

Definitely.. And I like the sound of high end jewelry stores lurking in Gibraltar - and to think I was actually wondering what I might do at that port... ;)

Karen did I just read that? You were wondering what to do in a port?;);)

I'm retired, no work days. Of course I put in 51 years before I retired so.

Did you start work at 8 years old Angie?

Someone asked in an earlier post about cruises in 2012. We are planning on Alaska; alas, probably not Disney because we want to do a one-way cruise and a land tour to Denali.

About the bubble net fishing/feeding: I know Candy Apple posted a response but here's some additional first-hand info. When you're on a whale-watching boat, you can always tell where the whales will be coming up during their bubble netting because the birds start circling overhead - it's a free meal for them! You'll notice the surface of the water almost looks like it's boiling; it's the fish trying to escape from the whales. The birds will dive in and then the whales will breach with their mouths wide open. It's not until they break the surface that they close their mouths and swallow all of the fish that they've captured.

After observing several of these evolutions, we noticed that the birds were circling directly overhead our boat. Sure enough, the water came alive with fish all around us and pretty soon we had whales coming up alongside, erupting into the air. One was so close to the side of the boat where I was standing that I could have reached out and touched it. My thought was, "We need a bigger boat!" :rotfl2:

I can provide the name of an excellent whale-watching boat captain for anyone who might be interested.

Now, back to the TransAtlantic....

That is a little bit scary!!!

Krisann

Thank you all for paying for these.

We'll be dining with you Paula so you can't avoid us. We promise to be on our best behaviour and no kiwi jokes. Paula (at least we will remember each others name!) :goodvibes

Thats true about the names - we'll not forget. :rotfl2:

I don't know that I believe you about the "no kiwi jokes" - surely you can't resist for 2 whole weeks?! ;)

I'm Hayley, I'm one of the Aussie's that Paula is trying to avoid! Bahahahaha, good luck Paula, I make a great stalker....:lmao:

There is no escape... :scared1:
:rotfl:

Paula, we are also flying with BA from London Heathrow to Barcelona, Qantas to London. What dates are you flying, we could be on the same flight? :upsidedow

I'm on the same flight - just earlier in the week. Serves me right for booking with an Australian airline! :lmao:

when do we start posting on part 8? I see that it's open. Do we wait until we can't post here anymore?

Thats the idea. Can't be too far away now...

I wonder what the non DISers on this cruise are going to this of this cast and crew!![/COLOR]

I stood next to a couple on the EBPC sail away out of Port of LA and he said to his wife "there seem to be a lot of Disney fans on board" - think that might have been the understatement of the cruise...

We are lucky now to have to get a Visa did those of you coming from Australia have a problem with this?

Travel visas aren't required for Australia, NZ or many other countries for short stays (90 days or less) in Spain.

Off for a weekend visiting my parents and, naturally, visiting WDW. I'll try to catch up on Monday (likely 33 pages later).

A conservative estimate me thinks... :rotfl2:

Being European I can tell you that we use Pampers too!!! So buying Pampers should be no problem!!!

Not that anyone cares but you can get them in New Zealand too ;)

We were on the 2008 one. That was our first Disney cruise. This will be our second.

In that case, there may be a few familiar faces  or people to avoid if need be. :rotfl:

Ok everyone I need some ideas for the wording on the wristbands - we can only have 25 characters including spaces. What I came up with was:

Disney Magic WBTA 2010

LOVE THIS!

Not a better idea, just another idea;
DCL MAGIC WBTA 09.18.10 (23 Characters also.)

No offense intended but please not like that with the date - it seriously does my head in trying to translate it in my head each time to day.month.year!

As a complete aside, there are a group of Dis'ers on the Podcast thread arranging a meet on the Sunday, probably out of the park at one of the MK resorts. I'll post more info here should it come to fruition as some of you maybe interested.

I am back,:goodvibes well we didn't really go anywhere. I have just been busy with work and non-work activities I haven't been able to get around here much. Looks like there is a lot of catching up to do.

Not to scare Lyn (lyn9856 that is) but it was getting close to us having to cancel the plans. The problem was finding someone to house/dog/cat/and fish sit for 5 weeks. But, things have worked out. We are still coming:cool1:

Hope everyone has been well and there haven't been to many posts about bad things happening. Doing a quick scan of this page I saw mention of old topics that keep coming around. Eye patches:scared1:, "un-mentionables", and few others. Oh, what a group this is. The ship will never be the same when we depart on Oct 2.

Not much longer,
Jon

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

BAA the British Airport Authority however are ballotting for strikes and this would effect Heathrow, Stansted and a few other airports (not Gatwick). These do things like the baggage etc at the airport!
Fingers crossed nobody is affected! Don't they know we have a cruise to get to, duh :rotfl:

Maybe, that would be great:) We leave Heathrow on the Friday at 11:20am or similar - I think the departure time has changed a few times.

Paula, Our BA flight leaves Heathrow at 9:20am. We are flying from Brisbane to London with Qantas, leaving here on the 16th. :confused3

Yikes!!! What kinda cruise is this??? So, we're wearing Spanx (the nude option presumably..?) on clothing optional beaches..?
Great idea, then I can be "good from afar, but far from good" :lmao:

Well, at least on this one I volunteered to do it a long time ago. Since all the data is in the database, all I need to do is ask it a question. Last night I wrote the script that collects the info below, but since it queries the database each time someone views the site, it is automatically updated with the latest stats. As soon as a person joins, their info is included in all the stats.

Glenn, Thanks for volunteering, but what language are you speaking? :rotfl:

Welcome back to the thread. My DH is also way to busy to keep up with the thread so he just wants a quick synopsis on a daily basis. It is almost as much work to give him a quick rundown as it is for him to read!!!
At least you DH has some interest, DH doesn't want to know anything until we're on the plane. He is so busy at work!

I'm pretty sure we don't need a Visa, but will check with my TA on Monday to be sure. Thanks :thumbsup2

I shouldn't have capitalized it but I have read that Australian visitors need a visa but no visas are required for U.S. visitors to Spain.
Val

I'm pretty sure we don't need a Visa, but will check with my TA on Monday to be sure. Thanks :thumbsup2

I am now an offical champagne gal. I got my cheap $2.99 tiara. Very pretty. made of cheap plastic pink and clear beads. I pink fluffy head band and a few pink ribbons too it Got my pink shirt now to find the pink boa. The hunt is on.

Watch Out, A lady on a mission! Looks like your nearly ready, How exciting!:cutie:

I love these spreadsheets .... I am going to do a clothing one for each day .. just to make sure I have enough stuff

Great idea! I'm going to be a CopyCat, CopyCat sittin' on the door mat! :goodvibes

I am down to 18 more working days or 208 hours, but who's counting
Jon

I'm down to 30 school lunches, 12 Jazz ballet, 6 Piano, 6 Chello, 12 Speech and Drama lessons for the kids ............not that I am counting..............

(Because, ironically, we were just last night talking about the possibility of buying wedding bands in Gibraltar or some other port on this trip----because last time we were on the TA we saw many shops in Gibraltar that were selling high end jewelry at discounted prices....so matching rings/wedding bands would be a pretty cool souvenir! :thumbsup2)

There is a Tiffany & Co in St Maarten ;)

BTW, BF is ok with GI Joe dolls....excuse me - action figures.
:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Erik and Jason? Either way, you don't need a paper when you find your real love. But it would be nice to be recognized by society. Whatever you plan on doing, if you do get married onboard, you can always have an extended DIS family with you. They will support you and you can share your Magical memores shots with them when you get home.

A while back - part 5 or 6 maybe... We all offered to stand up for you... We can hold the wedding on board... Maybe the secret deck on 7... Just need to grab Cap'n Sparrow so he can officiate!

Yep, I even offered to be your flower girl :lmao:

My kids say I love my furr kids way more than them. Not true - its just they don't talk back. So I'm sweeter to them.

I'm with you, they don't talk back, give attitude, create piles of washing and make huge messes for me to clean up, well maybe a few little puddles and piles..........:upsidedow

(Although I do love the idea of sneaking into WDW or down onto a deck with your formal clothes under a bathrobe or a raincoat and a minister in sunglasses and a big hat to find a secluded spot to have a quick wedding and then get chased around by park security while a cartoonish musical score plays in the background-----getting chased running in one cabin door and then out another like scooby doo!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd both be wearing suits, so how will they know it's bridal wear? If one of you is planning on wearing a dress, my money's on you Erik...:lmao: And if you are wearing a dress it would make the scooby doo cartoon even funnier....:rotfl2:

.thanks for remembering that. Yes it was a huge blow to our team, school, community....and even our sport around the state. The story, I understand, definitely had an impact on people all over since it got covered on CNN and in People magazine, as well. There was a hard lesson learned there that all drivers, especially teens, should remember: DO NOT TEXT AND DRIVE!!!! (As there is strong speculation, although no definitive proof, that texting and driving may have contributed to the accident)
We actually got that story way down here Erik, I remember it, So sad. :sad2:

I agree completely. In my own family, my youngest sister refuses to speak to any of us as we won't continue to support her now that she has spent all of her inheritance from my parents. !

You know what they say, You can't pick your family.......:confused3

I think especially when you have children, you often don't have the luxury to grieve publicly. We did do lots of counseling for the loss. When I met John my life began again.

.

Your loss of your husband is just so sad, I am at a similar age now and I imagine losing him and I just don't know how I would cope, it must have been devastating. You must be a pretty special mother to keep it together and minimise your grieving in front of them, I am so glad you met John and your 'living' again.

Is that were you take a bunch of papers and throw them into the wind, to see were they spread to?

:rotfl2:
Standing right outside the Yak & Yeti waiting to be seated!! :rotfl2: I'm sure THAT was an interesting phone call for bystanders to overhear!! :thumbsup2

OK, I know this discussion is not about food, but I love Yak and Yeti! The egg rolls are so good! :thumbsup2

I have caught up best I could. I am exhausted. My personal trainer worked me over today then I took a 1 hour class called body jam. It is a cardio class to music. Not what I thought it was. I quickly realized that fat old woman do not look good doing some of those hip rocking moves. I also realized that I have lost some rythem, Hope I find it as I used to love to dance. Good night all.

If it makes you feel any better, my PT worked me hard today also, I don't think I could have done 1 more jumping squat or backwards lunge!!
BTW, I have NO rhythm, but I dance like no ones watching and have fun anyway :goodvibes

Ok everyone I need some ideas for the wording on the wristbands - we can only have 25 characters including spaces. What I came up with was:

Disney Magic WBTA 2010

Love it, PERFECT :thumbsup2

OMG - IT!
I can NEVER look at clowns the same ever again or empty hotels either. Darn that Stephen King.

I am petrified of clowns, yep, since IT, They are the freakiest things ever! My poor kids have never even been to the circus, ew, I might see a clown! :upsidedow

I stood next to a couple on the EBPC sail away out of Port of LA and he said to his wife "there seem to be a lot of Disney fans on board" - think that might have been the understatement of the cruise...

Duh!!!!! No way, Disney fans on a DCL cruise, you don't say........:headache:

I second that, that date arrangement is just all wrong, it should be 18-09-10, date, month, year. :dance3:

Another trying day in the Zabek household re sleep, Weve a leak in the roof(old house) on and off for 1year, been waiting on the builder turning up for a month, ofcourse just as I am drifting off to sleep he turns up, Its so frustrating,oh well only the weekend to go.:rolleyes1

Hi all!
Just a quick query.

I see there's a 'Villains' night and the dress is 'themed'. Does this mean that people are dressing up as villains...?

I'm just trying to make some sense of my packing list so wondered what others were doing... :thumbsup2

Some folk are indeed dressing up as villains. Some are going with a purple and black colour theme with their normal clothes, and some are just going to see what everyone is wearing!!!;)
