Is the dining plan going to change in 2011

If there are further degradations to the plan, our upcoming trip will be our last time to use the plan or to stay on site. We'll still go to Disney and will still spend about the same amount, but we'll stay and eat off site and Disney will get a much smaller portion of our vacation money.

I think Disney is making adjustments to the plan based on how it has been used since it was introduced.

Regular Dining: Including the ap, entree, dessert, and tip in the original (although we LOVED it) was probably giving away too much according to the accountants.

Getting rid of the ap and not including tip allowed them to keep the same price for the plan without giving so much away.

The intro of the QS plan gave more options but took away from people that would have purchased the Dining Plan.

I really think Disney did not realize the overwhelming popularity the public would have for the Dining Plan from the beginning. Offering free dining gets people "hooked" and the next trip they will probably purchase.

They are coming close to pricing themselves out of the market IMO. We will just go off site or stay on site but reduce the TS and pay OOP.

Well................. :upsidedow
Again it is just rumor, but one person told me $43 and two others told me $44. The one that said $43 was doing the conversion from GBP to USD.

WOW. Really? That is as much of a blow as when they pulled the tip and appetizer and acted like they did something great for us by lowering the price $1. I had several CMs present it to me as a great savings because it was reduced by $1.

I really hope that this does not come to fruition.

You make a good point, but I personally feel that giving all of the discounts and free dining is where they shot themselves in the foot. They should not give dining out so much, or just give counter service only for free dining.

Don't get me wrong, I love a discount as much as anybody, but there is something that most of us on this board should be able to agree to......Disney is ADDICTING. And I mean ALL aspects! People who really love Disney vacationing will find a way to go, even if that means paying rack-rate for the room and eating counter service, it would be done.

I agree, do away with the discounts. :thumbsup2

Disney is addicting, and we will continue to feed our addiction by going, but I am pretty sure that unless they change the way they do dining radically, this will be the last time we will bother with the dining plan. We already recognize that we are saving very little, if any, money by purchasing the DXDP, but the convenience outweighs that... for now. This will e our last big family trip anyways, for a few years at least.

Why not just take the dessert away from the CS meals and leave the ones for the table service?:confused3 That'd be okay with most people I bet. But those TS desserts are great!:thumbsup2

I think that is exactly what they are going to do

As a PP pointed out, in the latest edition of the 2010 WDW Official Brochure (UK Version) there is a pull out section in the back that highlights travelling in 2011

In the section regarding the Dining Plan it defines what is meant by CS and TS and clearly states that CS does NOT include dessert but that TS does. There is also one snack included on the DDP.

I have compared both UK brochures side by side and the only change seems to be the removal of the dessert with a CS meal

What about the DxDP?

Well IF these changes were to come into effect, it would only affect the DxDDP when credits were used for a CS meal (which would not include desserts). So if you stuck to a signature meal and a 1 credit TS meal per day it would be no different to what it is now.

What about the appetizer?

I thought the appetizer was going also.

Didn't the QSDP also loose the mug?

Forgot about the appetizers. Can't remember though what the latest report was.

Yes, QSDP was to lose the mug too. Although I would buy one regardless - we stay for long enough that it more than justifies the "expense" - at least 10 times over. I've been without any DDP and got the mug too - now that is where we really noticed it because we would have had to buy all our resort drinks OOP.

Another 2 months to speculate and then we should have some official answers.

There were various reports regarding appetizers or no appetizers on deluxe.

I'm not following Disney's methodology of the DxDP and QS plans. If these reports are true, they will get less for more money. At least the regular plan seems to be gaining something (besides expense) in exchange for their loss.

Anyway, I really hope that the deluxe plan doesn't drop the appetizers. I can handle no dessert because 2 snack credits a day can get you some delicious treat but I will be kind of disappointed if they drop appetizers.

The official disney Uk brochure doesn't say anything about deluxe dining plan in 2011.

The 2011 info is in a fold out part of the back of the brochure advertising UK free dining for 2011. You can't get deluxe for free so that's why no mention of it. Likewise no prices are mentioned for QS or DDP 2011.

Virgin has deluxe with no appetiser but Virgin says no dessert for TS contrary to what the official brochure says - so still very much wait and see.

I know you can't get Deluxe for free, but you can purchase it if you are not doing free dining. Odd that they don't have details of the elements of the plan. With all the inconsistencies with the various travel agents it would appear that there are still some loose ends regarding what each plan is actually to comprise of. I notice since the UK Disney website has now merged with the US one, they don't give a full breakdown of prices. Not sure if that is a temporary change, but I was trying to price up adding the QSDP for Easter 2011 and had to whip out a calculator to work out the daily cost per person.

The brochure is a 2010 one - and has full details of all the 2010 plans.

It's hard to describe but the 2011 is just a bit at the back, not a full brochure.

Go on 2tiggies order one - no idea why Disney uk sent it to me when i'm already booked with them this year.

I am going to do that now. I have no idea why they didn't send me one - maybe because they have all my money for the upcoming trip

They haven't got mine yet - maybe that's it!

Currently debating with DH whether to pay it off this month or next - due 20th August.

I want to book the perfectly princess tea and sort our MNSSHP tickets but also want to get it paid asap.

Can I just ask you, is your brocure the one that appears in the picture where you can click to order it on the website? It's the one with Minnie and the little girl? I have that one sitting here - just hauled it out of the Disney Vault . It says Official 2010 Travel Brochure. I looked at the back in the flap but don't see anything about the 2011 DDPs so I wondered if they kept the cover for a later edition?

Yes the cover is minnie and a little girl - says official 2010 Travel brochure - second edition on the cover.

My vault (I like that!) is a cardboard box in my bedroom.
