Weird and Ninja’s Pre-Disneymoon [Completed!]

I soooo can NOT relate to the no sports thing! They consume our lives :lmao: I live with 3 sports fanatics. Between the kids games, going to sporting events, watching them on TV, getting the daily dose of what's going on in the world of sports from ESPN, I'm surprised we get anything accomplished around here! I am a sports fan myself though, so it doesn't really bother me too much. :thumbsup2

My dad LOVES tennis, Matt LOVES basketball, and my older brother loves pretty much everything! When Weird and I dated the first time, my guys wondered what it would be like since Weird wasn't into sports. But now I believe that they've accepted it. If Weird liked sports stuff on tv, I'd probably end up taking a lot of naps on the recliner right next to him!

Rachel, you are one funny gal. I love that your updates go off on crazy little tangents. I really do look forward to reading them. Thanks for being such a loyal poster. :earsboy:

OK, are you my long-lost sister or something? Because I love penguins too! :goodvibes hehe

Aww, that's funny. After I called you my dad suggested I call you back and tell you we'd be over by the Haunted Mansion.

Hehe, we must be! I'll be the 4th sister, and your dad will have ANOTHER reason to go to WDW again and use his AP! ;)

How fun! A mini shopping trip in the middle of your Disney drive south. Is there a large Amish population shopping at that outlet in Maryland?

Haha, maybe they all get in their horse and buggies just to shop there! It's unfortunately getting more desolate each time we go there. I guess there's not that big of a fascination with random out-of-the-way outlets; the ones in Florida were a different story!

I love outlet malls
My DD lives near one that has a Ralph Lauren and a Ann Taylor Loft in it
the teaser photo looks like you have an Easter egg sitting on your head:goodvibes

I'll take ANY outlet mall with a Character Warehouse or any other Disney-related store!

Haha, I saw that when I posted it! I thought it looked like a bunny ear!

Saturday, April 3: On The Road Again …

After Perryville, we all piled back into the car. It was nice being able to say we finished one leg of our trip since it has always been our first stop. Unfortunately, our drive down included about 73 more legs, haha.

I thought this was a funny picture and worth taking! Even though we have a GPS, mom was looking at a map. It reminded me of the days when the only things we had were the maps! At one point, I had to look at the map in Georgia when Weird was driving, but it was too much stress (and nauseating, might I add!). Where’s good ol’ GoogleMaps or MapQuest when you need it?
IMG_0940.jpg

Mickey didn’t seem to have any trouble with the long drive. He was just content to be out of the egg! Hehe, if you saw my PTR, I posted the pic of his home; he was attached to it for quite some time, so he was eager to see the world!
IMG_0942.jpg

Mickey enjoyed looking out the car window.
IMG_0943.jpg

Matt, on the other hand, wasn’t enjoying it as much. He’s not used to sitting in the car, staring out the window, and thinking. That’s what my older brother and I used to do all the time. I know that I’d think about anything I saw, make up stories for people in their cars, or just daydream! Matt doesn’t seem to know how to do that since he’s so used to finding entertainment in his Nintendo DS or his PSP.
IMG_0945-1.jpg

We eventually stopped for lunch close to 4pm. Because of those sandwiches, we were able to stretch out the stops. It took quite some time for the food to be ready. There were people piling up waiting for food since everyone had already ordered. I don’t know what was going on that it took so long, but eventually we got our food.

I had chicken nuggets with barbecue sauce. I’m a huge dipper. The dips are what make the food! Steak? I need bleu cheese dressing or steak sauce to dip. Chicken cutlet? Needs a dip! We save the fast food sauces when they give too many for my future use! At Wendy’s, I either go for sweet and sour or bbq. Weird knows that I’m a dipper because now he knows to get me a lot of ketchup or a lot of cheese sauce! That’ll come up when we’re eating at the parks!
IMG_6254.jpg

Back in the car, Matt was getting a little hot. As we were driving farther down south, the temperature was warming up. Because he was wearing the changeable cargo pants (I forgot what they’re called), he started unzipping the bottom half so he could have shorts on at me.
IMG_6256-1.jpg

I took the opportunity to tickle him as he was doing it because that’s what big sisters do. Haha, Matt was cautiously watching me thereafter!
IMG_6257-1.jpg

Then at this point, we were in state … um, I didn’t know what number state we were in because I lost track, so I gave up on that idea!
IMG_6261.jpg

As long as we didn’t lose track of our destination, I was still in a happy mood! Yes, we’re still in the car. My installments will still be travel-related for a bit longer!

I hate birds because they always attack me! It started when I was about 7 and we had been out shopping all day and when we got home, I really had to go to the bathroom. So, I ran inside the house, and a bird had gotten in the house through a hole we didn't know about, and because it had been stuck, it was flying into a window and was all bloody. When it heard the door open, it flew at me to try to get outside and I ran out of the house screaming because a bloody bird was attacking me.

Then, a few weeks later, another bird got in and a similar situation ensued, only this one wasn't bloody, just desperate to get out of the house.

Since then, I've been afraid of birds and I think they know it, because they only ever fly at me, even though there could be ten other people around!

The worst time might have been when we were on the beach when I was older (maybe like 19) and my sister was being annoying and hit a seagull with her towel. The seagull left and my friend and I joked that the seagull left to bring back it's friends, and about 2 minutes later the seagull did come back with about 10 other seagulls and started dive bombing my sister and my friend and I. I was so freaked out, I ran all the way back to our rental house (which wasn't close and up and down two big hills!) and I had a huge asthma attack and my mom was so worried because I ran so far and couldn't breathe and was laughing, I couldn't tell her what had happened. My friend still gets mad at me because I left her behind! I just wanted away from those birds!!

So, that's why I hate them! Anyway, back to your TR!

Thanks for waving hi to me on the road!!

I also love Foxtrot! It's the best comic. I was so sad when he stopped doing it daily.

I am also glad DF isn't too into sports. He only really gets into hockey.

I can't read in the car either... That's why I usually drive and DF is the navigator. We've learned it's what works the best, otherwise we yell at each other too much!

Buhahah very cool! You guys passed my parents place on I-75! They live in good old Warner Robins GA. So hot there! I can't wait to hear the rest of the TR. I would have so bought those cupcake T-Shirts!

Your DBF's Dunder Mifflin shirt is awesome! :thumbsup2 Where did he get it from?

The cupcake shirts are cuteee! I always use a fork or a knife to eat cupcakes with- I am a mess if I don't use one otherwise

It's so funny but true that kids these days can't entertain themselves in the car like we used to have to do. We take a bag of movies with us for all road trips.

Me and my dd's went to the outlet mall this past Saturday.
I really didn't have anything to buy, but I was upset that I
lost my Fossil watch, that I got in Orlando last year. I paid
a whopping $19.00. 2 days ago, I finally found it. It was hidding
behind my snowglobe on my dresser.
Anyhow, when I have nothing to buy-I find a ton of things to buy.
I ended up getting a new Fossil Watch. I only paid $52 with tax.
I eyed the watch up last year on our cruise ship and they wanted $110.
I'm glad I waited.

Anyways,
RU there yet?
Just kidding.:rotfl:

Love your report and the pictures you guys take. Sometimes the journey getting there is just as fun as the destination! Your DB was definitely looking a bit wary of you after you tickled him. Too funny! :goodvibes

Oh DEAR. That was a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Weird and I read your comment at the same time, and both of us just kept gasping in horror. It just kept getting worse and worse! How could you not hate them thereafter?!? At least your fears are legitimate!

Yesterday Weird and I went to B&N and I checked out the Foxtrot Treasuries. Oy, they were $17 each! Thankfully, Amazon has them for about $12, but I'm not exactly swimming in money to get them! I especially can't just go buy whichever one I want because I bought 3 other treasuries from book outlets for so little money. I distinctly remember only paying $5 for one. I'm going to have to stalk them for a while before I decide. I reread the treasuries at least once a year and still get a kick out of them!

I think that if I were to drive, it might be better just because there'd be no way I could fall asleep! The open road is just an invitation to close my eyes! I didn't drive during this trip though (after a car accident, I didn't drive for years, but now I'm back behind the wheel); I'm still a somewhat new driver so it never happened.

Weird and I were talking about moving to Georgia! Close enough to Florida to get annual passes but without actually living in Florida. Georgia and the other southern states have lots of Cracker Barrel restaurants! Plus, we feel that people down south are just nicer and not as tense as people here in NY.

I am another one that can't read in the car--i usually co-pilot or sleep,or play a handheld card game.
Your almost to Florida--Yea

Looking at the map at one point got me feeling sick! Even watching a DVD for too long can get me feeling queasy. Good thing Weird and I can comment on ANYTHING, and all the billboards entertained us! Those will come up in the next installment or so.

I'm not sure where he got his Dunder Mifflin shirt. I want to say Kohl's. I like that it's that color. A while ago, we found one that was a more noticeable color (I think blue or green?). I like that it's not so obvious that it's a shirt from The Office unless you know the show!

Haha, I make a mess all the time too! When I get a cupcake from a student's birthday, I have to examine it and think about whether I'd make a mess of my desk and of myself if I attempted to eat it in front of my students! Sometimes I have to save it for later when I can devour it without any spectators.

It's so funny but true that kids these days can't entertain themselves in the car like we used to have to do. We take a bag of movies with us for all road trips.

My mom used to buy my older brother and me ONE thing for the entire car ride. We'd be content the entire way. When we got older, we liked Garfield comics so we each got one book. We purposely chose that because then we'd both be able to read two. We'd read ours and then swap over and over again and read it a bunch of times and never get bored with it. Matt was never like that!

Haha, so great that you finally found your watch! That was such a great price for both of them! That's the absolute BEST feeling; choosing not to buy something at the time and then being rewarded by eventually buying it at a cheaper cost! Of course, there's always that risk of not being able to find it again!

Hehe, we'll be there ... eventually!

I agree! The journey really was fun; I've never had that much fun before! Of course, it was because Weird was there with us. Matt was better behaved because of it too!

Um, so I just realized that I've been writing "Saturday, April 4" as the title of the past 6 installments. It was the 3rd! Haha, did anyone notice it?

Umm...yes, I did...

No, just kidding, I definitely did not.

Saturday, April 3: Proper 10 and 2

At 5:15pm, it was Weird’s turn to drive. I got to sit in the passenger seat! It was so much more comfortable up there.
IMG_6269-1.jpg

I had to document Weird driving with his hands on 10 and 2! He typically doesn’t drive this way; he does the “guy” thing with the one hand on the wheel. Well, I guess it’s not a guy thing because I do it sometimes, but Weird can park with one hand only on the wheel; to me, that’s such a skill! Anyway, I had to take a picture of this because it just looked so odd to me!
IMG_6270.jpg

I did take pictures of my parents sleeping in the back. My dad was out within 2 minutes of reclining the seat (haha, that’s also when Weird and I were like, “OH, the seats recline! Why haven’t we been doing that all along?!?”). He was extremely tired because as he fell asleep, his mouth fell open. That only happens when he’s out of it completely. I really don’t see how he does it though; I’d need a nap after an hour and a half of driving tops!

We were okay for the time being though because we had a new view for our drive. We also dealt with some crazy people on the road. There was this tailgater (a woman) that was following Weird wherever he went. Weird would change lanes to get out of her way, but then she’d follow! We wanted her to stop drafting us!
IMG_6273.jpg

We also saw a sign for Five Guys. Our friends in NY have been putting that in their status updates on Facebook, yet both of us have absolutely no clue what’s so special about it! I mean, I know they have burgers, but everybody’s been raving about it. Maybe it’s like In-N-Out in California. I tried that, and though it was good, it didn’t change my life. The Dole Whip Float did!
IMG_6274.jpg

I tried getting a picture of this Cracker Barrel sign, but I only got "by lamplight" since I was zoomed in. You’ll see that this starts becoming a pattern!
IMG_6275.jpg

Um, what’s with this grammatically incorrect DANIELSTOURS? Where’s the apostrophe? Maybe there’s a reason why it’s like this, but seeing it like it is now just irked me! Don’t teach children the wrong things! Just like the spelling of mattress where the jingle tells the kids to leave off the last S for savings!
IMG_6276.jpg

This is excellent sign placement because McDonald’s gets to benefit from the Love’s sign. It looks like LOVE IS McD’s!
IMG_6278.jpg

Okay, that’s it for now because it’s time to sleep! I had a fairly exhausting day; I think the sudden cooler weather made me feel all achy. I really miss the Florida warmth! No bone or joint aches there despite walking around for miles at the parks! Ahh, memories.

I get a chuckle out your apostrophe fetish because that's (note correct usage) a peeve of mine too.

My favorite example of this was in Ann Arbor while I was in law school. A small restaurant had neon letters on the window that read "Steak and Egg's".
I always had to shake my head that the owner paid for an ungrammatical neon apostrophe.

It's always a good idea to use an apostrophe in its proper place.

As the previous poster pointed out, though, maybe this tour company is owned by Charlie Daniels, not Daniel Boone.

Maybe it's Daniels, as in a last name, not a first name Daniel. Just a thought :confused3

Ooo, that's true! Weird had suggested that maybe it was a bunch of Daniels, but then I said that it would still need an apostrophe if it was possessive like Daniels' Tours. I wonder if that's the case!

Did you ever read Eats, Shoots & Leaves? I got a kick out of many of the examples in there!

I learn new things as I teach it too! For example, I used to say things like the following: "I objected to him calling out loud," but only learned 2 years ago that a possessive pronoun is required before a gerund! Therefore, it should be "I objected to his calling out loud." Oy.

I think it's a teacher requirement though - always being willing to learn! :teacher:

Southern Girls would agree! :goodvibes

Now I started talking to my students about how much I want to move to the South! I love the pace of it, and the fact that it's just so much easier to feel at ease with others.

I like the picture of the bus, but only because you can see you taking the picture in the side mirror! :thumbsup2
