Rumored deals???

Where are you seeing this? When I go in, all I see is that you cannot book a package at this time. :confused3

I put in my dates, 2 adults and value. Now it looks like what I clicked on is gone. It was this morning when you could not book a package. It would let you look at prices but not book yet.

I really want the free dining. It would really help in our decision on whether to go this year or not.

I am sending pixie dust your way for your free dining. I am hoping they offer a choice between free dining or a room discount. Of course, would't it be wonderful if you get both!:banana::banana:

No dining doesn't go up, the room rates do.

Actually there are two different rates for the regular dining plan for bookings in 2010. Depending on your travel dates it's either from $41.99 per adult $11.99 per child to $46.99 per adult and $12.99 per child.

However the Deluxe Plan is one flat rate all year. $71.99 per adult $20.99 per child.

actualy, the basic dining plan, *not quick service* has different prices for peak and not peak seasons this year

I originally booked with the bounce back. Last night I called and inquired about free dining. For some reason the CM was able to apply the room rate only code to a package with the room & dining (normal price) and it was cheaper than the Free dining package by approx. $108 dollars and some change. Which we both thought was interesting. Since it allowed him to book the trip with the room rate only code and adding dining we booked it. Must be a glitch in their system but either way it worked.

Not a glitch - if you look at the online booking for the room discount you can take the room discount and make it a package with tickets and/or dining plans. They've had this kind of deal in the past as well (room only or % off your room for a package).

I'm traveling during "peak" season with just my son and I so I'm planning to use the Deluxe Plan. It will only cost me about $140 more than the basic plan and we'll have plenty of restaurant choices plus the refillable mugs!

I do not understand why many feel the 4nights get 3 free is a terrific deal. Tickets after the third or fourth day cost very little for each additional day. Basically, you are getting three free nights. At a deluxe that adds up I understand. But for values and moderates this discount does not compare to free dining.

Disney doesn't always offer free dining. In the past (not 2009) the "deal" for January was "free" upgrade to park hoppers & water park & more tickets. So for me (I do want deluxe for a January trip) this 4/3 offer which equates to a 43% room discount is a good deal-even if I have to buy tickets.

On the other hand, I am also going in Nov/Dec in a value with 3 adults and 1 over 10 child and free dining is a good deal-we have a pin for regular DDP.

No dining doesn't go up, the room rates do.

Unfortunately, as others have said, the DDP does go up during peak times for 2010. The QSDP & DxDP do not.

It's really going to hurt my wallet to spend the extra cash for it this year. Maybe in 2011 when we go, we can go QSDP and skip some character meals. This time around, we have friends taking their kids for the first time, so those TS meals are going to be much appreciated!

So is that new this year? I never heard of that beefore. We always go in march. I read it was now close to $47. a person, and thought that was awfull high compared to last yer, but I never really pay attention the exact amount since we always do it with our package.

Just looked at the disney website and it is partially up. Looks like the new dining plans have some exclusions for our trip, Jan 16-23.

If you book the Magic Your Way Plus Dining:

This vacation package includes accommodations at a Disney Resort hotel and a Magic Your Way Base Ticket, as well as the Disney Dining Plan that can save you up to 30% on dining for stays from 1/3/2010 - 1/6/2010, 1/10/2010 - 1/14/2010, 1/18/2010 - 2/11/2010, 8/15/2010 - 9/30/2010, 11/28/2010 - 12/16/2010 . This plan offers one table-service meal, one quick-service meal and one snack per person, per night of your package stay, at over 100 select restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort—including some restaurants that feature Disney Character Dining

If you book the quick service dining there doesn't seem to be the black out dates:

This vacation package includes accommodations at a Disney Resort hotel and a Magic Your Way Base Ticket, as well as the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan that can save you up to 20% on dining. Eat at select quick-service restaurants and receive 2 quick-service meals and 2 snacks per person per night of your package stay. You'll also receive a mug you can refill as often as you like at any quick-service restaurant at your Disney Resort hotel.

I really wanted the Disney Dining Plan but my sister-in-law whom I am traveling with prefers the quick service because the two nephews don't eat a lot. She is constantly dieting (and doing a good job at it I must say) so this is good for her too.

You still can't book a package deal just yet.

I was confused by this last year, too. I thought they were offering the DDP at 30% off, when after calling, it was explained to me that 30% is what you save by having the plan vs. paying out of pocket. Little Disney marketing speak there.

Yes, new for 2010.

Per MouseSavers:

Starting in 2010, the additional cost (on top of a regular Magic Your Way package) varies depending on the time of year:

1/01/10 - 2/11/10, 4/11/10 - 6/03/10, 8/15/10 -12/16/10 is $41.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).
*

2/12/10 - 4/10/10, 6/04/10 - 8/14/10, 12/17/10 - 12/31/10 is $46.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $12.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).

Can Disney squeeze any more out money out of us?

They have also dropped most the restaurants in Downtown Disney and in Epcot. I know we ate atleast two of our meals at restaurants in Epcot!!

Bigger disappointment is all the restaurants at CSR are off the list. Can't use to dining plan at the resort you stay at is a real bummer.

Seems like Disney is cutting everywhere!

Most of these places will be added on by the end of the year. This happens every year. Just keep an eye out on this.

Every year there are restaurants that take a little longer to get on board with the dining plan, if you keep checking it is very likely that they'll be added. I'm hoping this happens soon, just for ease of mind when I make my ADR's!

Not sure here since I do not get to go to Disney often, but could it be that not all of the resturants have signed on for the plan yet. It seems that in years past this has happened only to have them sign on at the last minute.

I could be wrong so please feel free to fill me in.

Many of us have APs so we just buy the one day ticket and then upgrade it to an AP. We stay at all levels of resorts but would prefer a better resort with a discount.

Some of us don't get the obsession over free dining either.

Not everyone going to WDW is a family of four that wants to stay at a value and be on the dining plan.

For a single or a couple who want to stay at a deluxe this is a much better deal than free dining.

It comes out to around 43% off. I consider that a good deal.

ITA We got to WDW for the atmosphere, rides, characters and shopping. We do not go to pig out. We can eat anywhere we want at home but we cannot see Mickey or ride Dumbo at home.

Do the ones who love the DP never eat out at home? Is that why it is so special?

We also go for the atmosphere, but have done the dining plan three out of the last five times we have been. We enjoy the character meals very much, more for the atmosphere than the food. We eat out several times a week at home, so eating at a restaraunt is not what makes it special. Dining at Disney is.
