Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

I wish I was a Disney Visa cardholder, but alas I am not. I know alot of people that would sign the petition mentioned earlier..... My fourteen year old is debating if he'll come with us this December. Do you think 14 is too young to go it alone thru the parks with a friend and a cell phone? :worried: Is Disney Quest worth the $40 entry fee? Any suggestions to persuade him to come? :rolleyes1

If you asked my three boys, YES... its worth it, but if you are going to do that, you might as well add on the water parks and more option to your park ticket for $50 and he can go there more than once. as for alone in the parks with a friend. yes... thats definately doable, depending on the maturity of your son. my kids all did that with each other. when my oldest was almost 17, I sent him off with his younger brothers, aged 14 and 10 and told them to keep together, the oldest had a cell phone at the time and then we had a set of walkie talkies . but the middle one did go off on his own and got back to the resort fine. so I wouldn't worry about it.
Last March we were down there with other family members... my then, 15 yr old several times acted as chaperone and tour guide for his two cousins... 14 and 13. My son had been there so many times, he knew his way around, they had never been there
:grouphug:

I already posted this question but cannot seem to find it. Can we book the for the free dining plan and then use rewards points from the Disney Visa to pay off part of the balance? I have about $500 - not great but enough to really help. thanks.

I believe you may.

I love that Disney rewards card! Last trip we had free dining, so no food costs (tip was still covered then),
and $300 on our DRC, and that took care of souvies.
Cheapest out of pocket trip we've taken yet! :thumbsup2

I cannot take this wait any longer! LOL

For me, it is not just a matter of when/if they announce and getting on the phones first thing....For me, it is "will it even be early enough to hit my week of vacation?"

This is killing me....LOL

We did the exact same thing two years ago! (Well, our total wasn't exactly $300, but it was close to that and enough to take care of souvenirs) It was wonderful! :thumbsup2

We are booked for free dining bounceback and will be eating for free from Oct.3-Oct.13.

I was surprised at the late booking for this year. Fall break here we come, now I just need someone to babysit in the afternoons to help pay for this.

How are you booked for free dining? Is it because you are a Disney Visa card holder? We are, but I haven't seen anything on this. What is bounceback?
I am not familiar witht that term. Thanks

Sometimes when you are already at WDW, they offer you a sale that is only available if you book while you are there, for a return date in the future.
Last time they offered free dining (fall '08), they offered free dining for those WDW guests already onsite, who were willing to book a return (or Bounce-back) trip in fall of '09.
Has nothing to do with Dis Visa. :thumbsup2

Is free dining being offered right now? We are a Disney Visa card holder but have not heard anything. What is bounceback? I have never heard of that.

Not yet. There was a sale using a PIN or coupon code, that was sent to a handful of people, but it was not general public. Not for Disney Visa.
And, see my quote below, from the post above. LOL

popcorn:: I'm waiting for the offer too . . . I'm planning a trip for a lot of our family members. It will be my brother's kids' first time to Disney! :goodvibes

i'm not sure if this has been asked but i'm still a litle confused about it....i read once about the rooms that are eligible for free dining filling up. What does this mean exactly? If you book a stay at a hotel and it gets all booked up you don't get the free dining??? Or are they like 200 rooms eligile for the free dining at each hotel??? Can comeone please clear that up for me i'm so confused! Thank you very much :)

Each resort is only alloted so many free dining rooms. The Pop and All-Star Movies tend to fill up first. So, let's say you are planning on staying at Pop or already have a room booked at Pop. You need to call as soon as possible so you can get one of those rooms or so you can add the code to your existing reservation. I always tell people to have a back up resort in mind when you call for free dining just in case your first choice is already booked up.

i think we will know whats realy going on in the next week - 10 days... I cant wait...

no sure if I will do Pop or AKL - depends how congress chooses to take my bonus aways from me (I work for a TARP recipient bank)

I wish it would happen as I have been so tempted to change to offsite this past week with all the great offsite deals.

My kids did this last September. We had two (13 and 12) and my nephew who was 11). They did both parks and Disney Quest. The buses really helped and they went at night. We did the water parks and more option, saved us a lot and the water parks were awesome. The kids did a great job but we also have very responsible kids who look and act older. I think it all depends on your son and the guest. We also told them that if they acted up, they could have their passes taken away and no park options, they didn't want to mess that up either.

i'm waiting as well...already booked my air/hotel @csr just hoping free dining comes out - EXTRA BONUS!

will be in disney 8/26 - 9/2
then Universal 9/2- 9/5

Man, this stress is getting to me! :scared1: Why, oh WHY didn't I book the free dining bounceback available when we were there in October?! Oh yeah, because dh thought there was no way we'd be back so soon :lmao:
