DVC Mike Live from BWV/SSR (3/7-3/15/09)

Are your thoughts the same with OKW?

We like the huge rooms of OKW and the parking right outside your unit. OKW and SSR share some of the same pros and cons, IMO. Since we prefer the resorts attached to the deluxe resorts, we don't own at OKW or SSR.

I know there are a lot of people who have the exact opposite opinion -- they love the condo-style resorts (OKW and SSR) and love staying there. It's nice to read everyone's opinions, but you won't form your own opinion of a resort until you actually stay there.

Ugh! Hopefully the groups will be busy during the day and won't impact the parks that much.

The group my coworker and dd are in will fly in Friday late afternoon and leave on Tuesday. She said there is a competition in the morning at Wide World of Sports on Sat March 21. So if anyone wants to get to the parks I'd recommend doing that early on Sat vs later. There are awards on Sunday.

She also mentioned that disney will open one of the parks up from midnight to 3 am just for the cheerleaders, parents and chaperones. Gosh ! Wish my dd's were cheerleaders ! What a nice perk that is !

Thanks again Mike for your great TR thread :thumbsup2

DVCMike is the Disney equivelant of that guy you see in Las Vegas with a giant roll of $100 bills and two babes hanging off each arm. :rotfl:

Enjoying all of your pictures and report. We were there at the early part of your trip (March 7-12). Really admire the live trip reporting having just returned. I haven't been able to pull that off. I haven't stayed at SSR yet, but I think I probably will feel like you do. I do like the size of OKW rooms and the access to our car right outside the door, but I so enjoy the lobby at VWL and WL! That is a big factor for us. Would love to try AKL.

Thanks again for the great live thread!

Okay, so now you have to get some stranger to take a picture of you AND your wife, so we can be sure she's there with you!! :goodvibes

It is big...And some rooms are out of the way....BUT, I guess I am just biased, but we LOVE SSR, and the layout and the rooms.....We are trying BWV and AKL this may, so we will see, but, since SSR was a wonderful prize and gift to us, it holds a special place in our heart as "home" and I almost feel guilty, like cheating, staying somewhere else...Jess says Im nuts, and I agree with her :lmao:

Thanks for the awesome photos and trip report....To me, being at WDW and posting TR's is a great feeling......Knowing that others can also feel like they are there while you are, with pics and stories is a good feeling.....Keep up the great work.

Mike, don't know how I missed your report :confused3

Glad to hear you're enjoying your trip and have such nice weather! You haven't missed much at home (you were still home for the snow on the 1st, by the 8th it was sunny & 83 and then it got cool/cold again and has been raining for more days than I can count).

Thanks for all the beautiful pics! :goodvibes

Thanks for the trip report!

I do understand your SSR concerns. Personally I think the Grandstand section minimizes a lot of of the SSR negatives. (I never felt fully relaxed when I stayed in the Springs)
Location is about as close as you can get to the main areas (I think it is nicer walking by the lobby than throught the pool to get to the eating areas)
I think the theming/beauty is much enhanced by the surrounding golf courses. (I stayed in a room that overlooked one hole of golf and the river with boats going to OKW, the total composition of elements was nearly stunning)
Plus I think the grandstand bus stop is the most beautiful bus stop in WDW (There's a lovely landscaped approach, and when you are sitting there the road disappears, and you feel like you are on the edge of the golf course)

Of course the problem with SSR, no booking categories, so you are never guaranteed the best locatuion for you.

Stopped by the Beach Club resort and said hi to Art the Greeter!

What?? Was that an empty Beaches and Cream I just saw?? Unheard of! And awesome! And an empty stormalong bay, just how we like it. Oh I hope it's like that in 4 more weeks. Thanks for this daily visit to our most favorite place of all Mike!

Art is always the rockstar of Disney for us. I hope he never leaves! That man's smile lights up the whole resort. :)

Mike !!!
Thanks for the pics of B&C ! I have NEVER EVER seen it this empty....what time was this ? We tried to get in here the last 2 visits to WDW and the line was out the door....so we left.
And best of luck to those two women attempting to consume the Kitchen Sink....:lmao:
PS : what a great pic of Art too !

DVC Mike, really enjoying the TR.

Other than the obvious mainstay shows (F!, Beauty and the Beast, Wishes, Spectro, etc.) what parades and shows are now happening at DHS and MK? (The Dream Along with Mickey, Block Party Bash type shows/parades). Trying to make plans and not 100% sure what has been "cancelled" and what has replaced it.

Thanks, and love the great pictures!

He makes everybody move out of his pictures. He already confessed earlier in the thread. People will do that when you're a member of the 1k Club. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Since today's my birthday (My mom named be Michael since it was St Patrick's Day), I went to the MK to pickup my $70 Birthday Fun Card. It's been very cloudy and overcast today.
