Yet another Solo DDE Dining Report, pics of course! DONE 3/1 pg 11

I've never thought of doing Norway for breakfast, and the other meals don't appeal that much to me. I may have to put breakfast on my maybe list for next Dec.

Those potatos look just too good!

I have always wanted to try the Princess dining in Norway, but I have 2 boys I don't think they would enjoy it. I have to find someone else to go there with. I looks great. Thanks :thumbsup2

Just Starting reading your reviews can't wait to finish! I love how you include the alcohol! :rotfl2: We are so excited to try so many of the different drinks when we get there in may!:woohoo:

What was your favorite drink there?
What was your favorite bar/lounge?

Marcia, I love your reports. Especially the booze! :thumbsup2 I am drooling for that Grey Goose slushie. I'm planning on an Epcot evening this Friday so I think I will have to have one or three.

And I will be making a beeline for the Tune-in lounge next time I'm at MGM. Right after Tower of Terror. Not sure how I'd handle that attraction after a couple of drinks.

:cool1: great reports again, ive booked CP for my last day at MK so was plkeased to read ur review :goodvibes

So Marcia . . . . if you were going to WDW solo on your birthday -- where would you pick to have your special birthday dinner? I'm actually thinking of not doing it ON my birthday because that day is the only evening EMH at Animal Kingdom while I am there and I really want to do that. (In fact, it's the only AK EMH while I am there.) I've heard evening EMH at Animal Kingdom is really neat.

so, I'm thinking maybe doing a special dinner the day before since that has EMH at Epcot in the morning--which I may or may not make! So . . . . would you do California Grill? Or go all out and do Victoria & Albert's? Or Jiko? There are so many choices and other than Brown Derby I haven't done any signature dining so would be open to suggestions from you (or anyone else who cares to comment!) there are so many places I would like to try--my list is as long as my arm!

Dawa Bar, "Snack", 11.11.08

Well, it's quite fitting that this is my first "food" entry. And it's an alcoholic beverage. Just fits me well, now, doesn't it? :rotfl2:

Anyway, so I got to Animal Kingdom and did a few rides before it was parade time. And of course, I watch the parade from Africa, because then you see it twice...the second time with pretty much no one around! Sweet. And it's right by the Dawa Bar, so for me, that's just a perfect location for parade-viewing.

Anyway, so I went up to the bar, with the intention of buying the blue drink I've gotten there in the past...only it wasn't listed on the board. So I asked the bartender if they still had a blue drink, and he told me it was the Oasis - Bacardi Limon, Blue Curacao, and Sour Mix. Sounds good to me...bring it on!

pic057.jpg

Nice and lemony, and blue. I couldn't ask for more :thumbsup2

Oh geez, and so I'm going through my pics, and well, next up is another drink! Before my first meal...I have 2 drink reviews, LOL!!!

Victoria Falls, "Snack", 11.11.08

So yup, after the parade, I made my way over to the AKL for my dinner ADR at Jiko, but I got there at 5 and Jiko didn't open till 5:30. So what was I to do? Hit the bar, of course! I knew I'd have a Mount Kilamarita at Jiko, so I decided to pick something from the standardized menu...The Magical Star Coctail - X Fusion Mango and Passion Fruit Liqueur, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice, and a souvenir multi-colored glow cube...says so right here!
pic128.jpg

But alas, I *hate* coconut with a passion. So I asked them to sub Bacardi Rum instead, and that was no problem. Ooh, this thing was pretty! It was my first experience with the multi-colored glow cube, and it made an impression!
pic130.jpg

pic132.jpg

pic133.jpg

Yes, that's all the same drink, just different colors of the cube! So fun! And it was good, too. But hey, you really can't serve me much that I won't enjoy if alcohol is involved!

Oh, and for the purpose of research, I also took photos of all the drinks in the standardized menu. Just so you guys could see!

up next: dinner @Jiko

Yes I enjoyed it. I definitely go to this bar and try those on the pic, it looks good. Great review and nice pics. Looking forward for your other reviews. :)

Anxiously awaiting the next installment. You've given me LOADS of things to consider in my upcoming trip! :)

Great review... So, curious who takes the character pictures for you in the restaurants? Do all the characters have handler or the waiter does it?

I'd love to have that margarita in my hand right about NOW!:goodvibes

yeah me too!

I've never thought of doing Norway for breakfast, and the other meals don't appeal that much to me. I may have to put breakfast on my maybe list for next Dec.

Those potatos look just too good!

yeah i've done lunch there before, but breakfast was really really good! i normally don't eat a lot in the morning, but this was worth it!

I have always wanted to try the Princess dining in Norway, but I have 2 boys I don't think they would enjoy it. I have to find someone else to go there with. I looks great. Thanks :thumbsup2

that's tough with boys, but maybe you could do a special meal there one time, make them deal with it, lol!

Just Starting reading your reviews can't wait to finish! I love how you include the alcohol! :rotfl2: We are so excited to try so many of the different drinks when we get there in may!:woohoo:

What was your favorite drink there?
What was your favorite bar/lounge?

oh boy, favorite drink i think i would go with the grey goose slushie in france. or grandma's picnic punch at the tune in/50's

and for favorite bar...most definitely tune in!!! that's the next review coming up, so stay tuned!

Marcia, I love your reports. Especially the booze! :thumbsup2 I am drooling for that Grey Goose slushie. I'm planning on an Epcot evening this Friday so I think I will have to have one or three.

yay, tell david hi for me!!!

oh yes, i'm sure you will love it! it's good food and fun

let's see...out of the ones you mentioned, i've only been to jiko, and i would definitely return! i'm going to cali grille on my upcoming march trip, and i've never been to victoria and albert's. i figure i'll save that one til i have a boyfriend or husband (yeah some day!) to share it with. i do enjoy the brown derby, but you can't go wrong with jiko. i'd also place narcoosee's high up on the list, as well as flying fish. flying fish is in my may review, as is narcoosee's, and flying fish will be coming up on this one in a few more posts.

Yes I enjoyed it. I definitely go to this bar and try those on the pic, it looks good. Great review and nice pics. Looking forward for your other reviews. :)

excellent, glad you enjoyed the pics! enjoy the drinks!

Anxiously awaiting the next installment. You've given me LOADS of things to consider in my upcoming trip! :)

awesome, i'm happy to give people ideas, especially about alcohol, lol! haha, another one will be coming up in a bit

Great review... So, curious who takes the character pictures for you in the restaurants? Do all the characters have handler or the waiter does it?

thanks! oh and yup, there's always a handler, so either that person or my server takes the pics for me. if they're not around, the characters always "ask" someone sitting nearby to do it. no problem at all!

i have to go into work in a little bit, but i'm going to *try* to get in my tune in lounge review before i leave!

Tune In Lounge, alcohol, 11.17.08

I think I had planned on spending all day in Epcot this day, but well, I finished up what I wanted to do there, and decided to head over to MGM. First stop...Tune In Lounge, of course! I pulled up to the bar, said hellos to David, and he brought me my first drink...Grandma's Picnic Punch
pic036.jpg

Oh and here's David, and the lovely bar!
pic037.jpg

Hung out for a while, then got another drink, another Picnic Punch
pic038.jpg

On my way in earlier, I had lucked out and gotten a FP for Toy Story Mania. Keep reading my regular trip report to hear about that. Anyway, David was going on lunch, so I took that time to go use my FP. Also rode Rock'n'Rollercoaster a couple times.

Anyway, then I headed back to the lounge, and David was back. Yay! Time for another drink! This time, I got the Magical Star Cocktail, but subbed in regular rum for the coconut rum (like I did at Victoria Falls earlier in the week).
pic048.jpg

David was talking to another lady at the other end of the bar, her name was Rita, and he asked me if we ever met. We hadn't, so I moved on down (oh yeah, 3 drinks by now...from David...I was a little loose! haha), and me and Rita became fast friends.

At this point, I told David to surprise me with my next drink. And he served me a Long Beach Iced Tea, which has since then become my drink of choice! In case you're unfamiliar, it's a long island with cranberry instead of coke. Good stuff! Oh, and a bit strong!
pic050.jpg

David then took a picture of me and Rita
pic051.jpg

Ha, and we were having such a good time, somehow we got on the topic of chapstick. Rita was there with someone else, so we each pulled out our chapstick. I took a picture, because that's what I do!
pic052.jpg

I was ready for another cocktail, and told David to surprise me again. This time he gave me a Bahama Mama. I always thought those had coconut in them, but he knows I hate coconut, so he may have subbed something. Anyway, he told me Bahama Mamas were good for me. Ha!
pic054.jpg

At this point, I think he cut me off. Good thing. I didn't even notice! He told me about it later. I took more pictures of the bar
pic055.jpg

pic056.jpg

pic057.jpg

pic058.jpg

Oh, just an FYI, this isn't David's side of the bar. If you go in and want to be served by David, sit on the left side, not the right. I had just moved over because that's where Rita was. Normally, I sit on the other side.

Aaaaanyway, at some point, Mario was making a drink with whipped cream, and I love whipped cream, so I asked if I could have some. Aw yeah
pic059.jpg

Also, in David's effort to sober me up, he gave me an order of fries. The next day, he informed me that I played with them like a little kid, pushing them around on the plate and eating maybe three of them. Too funny.
pic061.jpg

David also informed me that I stayed for at least an hour after my last drink, possibly longer. I took lots of pictures. Here's a few!
pic063.jpg

pic064.jpg

pic069.jpg

pic070.jpg

And for my last picture, David gave me a pineapple slice, and here is the shot that ensued.
pic078.jpg

Oh boy. That was a fun day. At some point, Rita and I talked about how she'd never been on TSM, so we arranged for me to get her a FP the next morning. I was in a very happy mood, so much that I was giving away FP that I didn't yet have, LOL!!!!

Also, at some point, I decided that I would have dinner at Flying Fish. I'd been there before and knew I could get in without an ADR and sit at the bar. So I bid David goodbye, but only for the night...I'd be back the next day for a day of MGM fun and ESPN and Jellyrolls at night w/David. Good good times!

next up: dinner @Flying Fish

Wow You had quite a night !! Almost makes me wish I was a drinker !!:lmao: But I bet David could come up with some awesome non alcoholic cocktails ! I do love Virgin Mary's !!

Hmm--I'm definitely going to have to check out David, er the Tune In, next trip!

When are you going in March?

Just got all caught up with your latest escapades - you go girl :worship: I will definitely have to stop by the Tune-In Lounge and check out David in October - he sounds like a riot.

I agree with Kathy, I think we would definitely get along - Grey Goose Slushie is one of my favourite drinks too (almost on a par with my beloved Skyy Berry Martini)

Marcia - Are you going in October for F&WF? We have a group headed down mid October and we're trying to have a big DIS meet.

Marcia,

My brother and I sure have enjoyed your reviews. We feel like we would have a blast hanging out w/you! :thumbsup2

I have a question: Can you order the drinks without the glow cubes for a cheaper price? If so, do you know the prices?

Just like a drunk... trying to figure out gow to get the most booze for my money!! :lmao:

Anyway, you have the best DR on the DIS!!!

Todd

Tune In Lounge looks so fun. I definitely must check it out next time. And as TigerKat said, I think we'd get along just fine!!
