DDA Chapter 14

My mother drives me absolutely bananas. She asked what they could get the kids for Christmas. Probably like many of your kids, the last thing they need is more toys. I told her they've mentioned wanting a trampoline for the back yard. We have the perfect place for it. So I tell her and then all I hear is how they aren't getting that. The kids will get hurt. They knew a kid that broke her leg on one. Yadayadayada. Mom says she would feel so guilty if they got one and one of my kids got hurt. Yet she's bought them skateboards and rollerblades. It just annoys me to no end when they ask what to get, I tell them, and then they tell me that my kids don't need it or it's a bad idea. Other famous lines I've heard from them regarding other suggestions are "what are they going to do with that" or "what do they want one of those for" or "they don't need that". Makes me nuts!

Could one of our mature mother's with older children explain this behavior to me???

Theresa, a quote for you from Malachy McCourt:

"Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die."

I love that. It was in my signature for awhile.

I remember seeing that in your signature and it taking forever for me to get it:rotfl2: Yes, I do have my airhead moments.

The joy I have at leaving far, far outweighs the grief/resentment...I feel sad for the members of this church.

Tammi - It is some sort of freaky mom rule. Moms of adult children must immediately regress back to toddlers and do everything in their power to defy and frustrate their adult DDs. :headache:

Like my mom, who would apparently prefer to risk permanent damage to her arm instead of acknowledging that she needs to be more careful with it. Since I say she needs to be careful that means she should immediately lift and carry all sorts of really heavy stuff, because under no circumstances should she EVER do what I say. :sad2:

And then when her arm really is permanently damaged she will call me and say "I should have listened to you." Like it matters! I don't get some sort of perverse satisfaction from being right after the fact. I KNOW I am right, because I spend every waking minute worrying about her. I research and research because I know she won't bother. It really is an extremely unhealthy relationship. Maybe I need counseling. :rolleyes1

Bernadette the doll clothes are cute!

Deb & Vicki I have gained as well. But that is how it has been for me my whole life, up & down. I love to eat & unfortunately it is the stuff that is not so good for us. So as my clothes get tighter I will gripe & grumble & finally one day I will say enough. This is so two sided for me, I love it when I am smaller but I hate that I have to watch everything I eat. On the other hand I get upset with myself when I gain, but at the same time I really enjoy the foods I am choosing to eat. I just haven't found a happy balance yet & at 46 years old I am not sure I ever will. So for me it will always be a battle.

I hear you sista. We will recommit after the holidays. I love the new ticker by the way :thumbsup2

I am back over 200 hundred pounds. :scared1: :sad2: :scared: I have been that way for a few months. I had been down in the upper 170s. I have still lost over 40 pounds, but I hate that I had to get new pants. I am blaming it on my injured foot, but honestly that just added on to a previous gain.

I am so frustrated with Snapfish. I had my book finished twice, I hit buy now, but did not see a confirm page. I have also not seen an email so I suspect neither order went through.

I need to head to bed. I have a meeting tomorrow at work.

Night all. I hope you all have a good day tomorrow.

I'm sorry about the weight gain. Hopefully it will come back off easier this time. Did you save your snapfish book as a project? You can resubmit it if you did.

Im the same way with weight..plus, i have no thyroid now, so that affects it as well.. There are times that i have no appetite at all, but gain weight like crazy...then there are times im eating everything in sight and i still lose weight...Its so frustrating

I was absolutely exhausted last night..i was in bed and asleep by 930 and just now woke up--i love it! i decided i am not going into school early today --im all caught up and then some so no need. Luckily, i do not have anything major i have to do after school today so i think ill come back to relax some more...im feeling really run down and refuse t get sick before dallas in one week :)
Get some rest. You have to be 100% for Romo, um I mean the Cowboys :goodvibes

I surived 8th grade...well 2 periods of eigth grade art anyway :lmao: Tomorrow I'm doing a Thanksgiving craft project with Colby's class before my drug test. Friday I am spending the entire morning with Colby's class. We will finish up the crafts, have art class and whatever else. His teacher was out on Monday and will be out tomorrow. Her FIL was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Monday and they are removing it tomorrow. She was uncertain if she would be able to come in on Friday and the regular classroom sub (who was Nick and Hunter's Kindergarten through 2nd grade teacher) can't cover Friday. She was happy to know that I would be there in case she can't be.

It always amazes me how when one of us is going through something there is always another that is going through the same thing. I hope that we can all get it together. Maybe that can be our new year's resolution :)
New Years sound more managable to me than today.:thumbsup2

Bernadette the doll clothes are cute!
Thanks!

Cute new ticker!

Hi Bernadette, cute doll clothes, my mom used to make me Barbie clothes, I had the best dressed Barbies in town.
Thanks! I made a few Barbie things for my niece years ago but I don't think I could do it now-I don't see well enough now and wouldn't have the patients. The 18" size doll is much easier.

Good job on those! :thumbsup2

I forgot to say something on here, that's for sure. But in honor of Mickey's birthday I bought something for me! :rotfl:

Thanks!
Love your present to you!

Bernadette - The doll clothes are great! :thumbsup2
Thanks!

Good morning, all! So I have no idea what happened to yesterday. I do know that I spent 75% of it sitting in my chair or laying on the couch. I just had no energy, no motivation and my stomach was not happy anytime I got up for more than a couple of minutes. The head cold junk was a little better, but apparently more junk decided to join it and knock me down for the day. Luckily, the baby still sleeps 80-90% of the time and Terra was pretty mellow herself from not feeling all that well. Today is a little better at least which is good as we are going to see a play in a little while. It is a collection of storybooks like If you Give a Pig a Pancake and Diary of a Worm. There are a few others, but those two are among Terra's most favorite books right now.
:wizard: Hope you're feeling better today.

Here are some pictures from yesterday.
Great pictures! Looks like most of the kids were dressed for the cold.

How bizarre is it that when I saw those statues I thought "Are those chocolate?" Of course the kids wouldn't be allowed that close to them if they were chocolate. I spend too much time at WDW. :rolleyes1
:lmao: I was thinking you think about chocolate too much.

I am beyond ticked...I just saw the "proposal" by Miss Tattle Tale's assistant and there is no way in h e double hockey sticks she came up with that overnight. It's for a reduction in hours but almost a double jump in pay.

I say let them have her...it seems she will fit right in with the rest of them.

I am just deeply saddened that this stuff happens in a church. :sad1:
Sounds like they deserve her-the staff not the members. It is sad that it happens in a church-not very Christian behavior.:sad2:

As a daughter in law of an orthopedic surgeon, I have to say I agree with her on the trampoline but she could have said "I don't feel comfortable buying that" instead of a lecture.

:wizard: Good luck on the drug test.;) :rotfl2:

Tammi,

It will never end. You will always hear that even when your kids are grown. :lmao: I still hear it from Hal's mother about my kids. :faint:

My DDIL has made it easy for me for the past two years. She buys things she knows the boys will like and then lets me SHOP and pick out a couple of things. That way, I get them what they had asked for or she knows they want or need and everyone is happy. :goodvibes

Bernadette - I actually don't think about chocolate that much! :rotfl2:

I just got back from the mall. I didn't buy anything. I really just went to walk through Sears. Nothing interesting.

I went to Target to grab some stuff for my bosses. I saw the Frito guy, who works out of the zone that has already undergone restructuring. I chatted with him for a bit. The things he said are different than what DH has been told, so we shall see. I thought this was supposed to make the zones more similar. :confused3 DH's meeting about it starts at 1 PM.

Target had no Zyrtec for Princess. I went to CVS. They also had no Zyrtec! :headache: Apparently there will be a third store in my future today.

For all that is good, please make her stop crying. Lucy has been crying, screaming, whimpering since 11am.

I have a feeling that she has an ear infection. I don't thinks she's cried this much in her 16 months!

Denise- Lots of prayers for that baby girl and her family. How's Rees?

Theresa- Hang in there,'s

Paula- It's so good to see you!! :goodvibes

Deb- Any news on Chris's mom and niece?

Tammi- Great pics. Aren't mom's wonderful?

Elin- Love the bracelet!

Bernadette- Cute doll clothes!!

Elizabeth- I hope DH's meeting goes well.

Did you give her some Advil? Warm compress on her ear? A bath? A little TV or music? Juice and a cookie? A glass of wine? (For you, not for her. ;) )
Did you call the Dr. and see if they can take a look at her?

I hope she stops screaming soon. I have to tell you though, I think there is some sort of national agreement to scream today. There was a kid screaming in the mall, a kid screaming in Target, a Princess screaming at me this morning when I told her not to jump up and down on a plastic step stool... :rolleyes1

The kids I saw screaming in public today were full on screaming - the kind that makes everybody stop and stare.

That was Matthew last night at Cookie Cutters. He asked for a yellow balloon then he changed his mind. The girl was already inflating the yellow one for him, so I made him take it. That resulted in the worst tantrum/meltdown I've ever seen. Of course, today, he loves his yellow balloon.

He's SO NOT ready to drop a nap, even if he thinks he is!!!

Tammi (and everyone :) ), you may have already placed your order, but Toys R Us has free shipping on everything (with a minimum purchase of $50) today and tomorrow.
