Why does this matter?

If you eat TS you'll have a server. In this country if you have a server you tip.

By the way if I had to wear some of those TS server uniforms you'd have to pay me too. :lmao: (Always gotta find some humor).

agree!

wow.. i work as an engineer in SE virginia and if i dont' work overtime, I don't make that kind of money.. Maybe I need to consider a career change.. couldn't be any more "stressful" than my job can be. LOL Even with the funny uniforms.

And really, cost of living roughly compares out with what it is here vice down there.. Obviously you wouldn't want to live in like Celebration, get a bit away from Orlando area its not AS BAD cost of living wise I imagine.

ok first, please remember paragraphs are our friend ;)

It is very interesting that this 'job' was just added to that website today. ANYONE can upload a job to that website. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for its authenticity :rolleyes1

Disney employs more part-timers than f/t according to the CM's who post here.

Also, not everyone works a signature dinner shift. Plus, anyone who reads the tipping threads :headache: knows that 15-20% tips is not what everyone tips. I am sure that depending on where you work, you can do quite well.

However, who cares? As long as my service is what I expect, I don't really care what there annual pay is. It is a job I never ever want to do for oh SO many reasons. :dance3:

Would this be considered a personal attack by a mod? I'm confused :confused3 I can only guess this was made in jest or in the best spirit of friendship
As to the who cares remark? I do believe there are much less news worthy post out there than nicely talking about how much a good WDW server can bring home.
I don't see anywhere on this thread where anyone was saying that we shouldn't tip because of the annual salary servers might make. :confused3 I don't see any debates here :confused3 The closest thing to a less than cheerful post would be yours. sorry if we hit a touchy subject with you Jody. Have a magical day :grouphug:

Not sure if this is "wait staff"...all of those jobs seem to be IT jobs.
Yep. If you change the search to "restaurant server walt disney world" or "waiter walt disney world" or "waitress walt disney world", the resulting response is No Data But, heck. Restaurant server... computer server... same thing, no?

Something many posters either don't know or choose to ignore is that full-time server positions are extremely rare. Can a good server work 40 hours? Sure, maybe - at two, three, or more restaurants in a week... and each of those is a separate job. What's the big deal? No, or very few, benefits despite working the same number of hours most of us take for granted.
Again - it is not my* concern how much somebody who is not employed by me or who is not me, earns. Tipping is an expected, and therefore budgetable, aspect of restaurant dining.

Would it be more palatable if the gently reminder that "paragraphs are our friends" had been posted by someone else? Because it would have been - by me, not so politely - if that hadn't already been mentioned. Post # 19 might contain a great deal of interesting and helpful information - but it's too hard to read.

*The word "my" can be adapted to mean any person.

I think something is dawning on me... and I think some might be taking it the wrong way.

Just because a good WDW server can make 76K before taxes doesn't mean your shouldn't tip them what they deserve.
They are doing their job and they should be tipped for their service. It is a great job for college kids as it pays for their tuition so they can have a career being an engineer making less money :rotfl2:

In no way did I mean or imply that servers make so much money, they don't need tips. Florida is one of the most expensive places to live in. In MY case I was more curious than anything how much a good server could make at WDW... this was not meant to add to any other debates that might be raging now. :grouphug:

Theres no way a waiter ANYWHERE makes $76K a year unless theyre waiting on the king of spain.

I hope you're kidding. Tipped occupations can be very lucrative. Just do the math. Depending on the restaurant, a server can average a $10 tip per table. If they average 4 tables per hour, that's $40 an hour. At full time that's $320 a day, $1600 a week, and $83,000 a year. I do not know if servers at WDW make that, but there are servers that make that amount and more.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I beg to differ ... i live in New Orleans and those servers will make a KILLING!!!!!!
Maybe not at all places ... but we are known world wide for our dining and there are engineers that don't make what a good server in New Orleans will make:rotfl2:

Very true! I knew of a few at Commander's Palace that made more than $100k before Katrina. The service industry in New Orleans is a coveted career oppurtunity. I would also imagine New York, Vegas, etc... I worked at a hotel in N.O. as a valet at age 21. I lived on my own and had a pregnant girlfriend. I was able to save $500 a week as a valet. And this wasn't one of our better hotels. I was 21. I spent a lot of money on foolishness, and I had bills. My car insurance alone was $300 a month, but I was still able to SAVE $500 a week working 32 hours. And believe me, I spent a whole lot more than I saved. You give a 21 year old hundreds of dollars in cash a day 4 times a week and they're going to spend it. The teller at my bank must've thought that I was a drug dealer or a male stripper because I came in there every couple of days with a big stack of $1 bills.:rotfl: I've known personally, servers, doormen, and bellhops that made $250-$450 a day in tips.

Last time I checked this was a board where people talked to one another about things concerning Disney. I was not aware we were being graded on grammar and word structure. Do forgive me for not being perfect PLEASE PLEASE!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: :scared: :scared: :scared: I will try my best to make things easier for some of you to read in the future. Smaller words, simple sentences, and shorter "paragraphs".

FYI that website is updated daily...so tomorrow it will have tomorrows date on it!:lmao: :lovestruc XOXO:rotfl2:

Exactly! They work for their money and they deserve it! I think it's GREAT that they can make that much and LOVE their job at the same time! Who wouldn't love working at WDW!? Must be soooooo much fun!!!:thumbsup2

Commander's Palace YUMMY!
I was thinking more of Brennen's though :scared1:

i am sure there is more than 1 "kid" who paid their entire college using tips. :cheer2:

Sure sounds like it huh? :rotfl:

Neah, I am sure Pumba meant that post to be funny. I don't think any mod would ever try to start problems on a thread they would then have to clean up.

Hey Pumba, with all this who to tip and who not to tip... Do we need to tip mods too for cleaning up messes?!
Whats your take, 20% per thread or post? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

I think it was a gentle hint. It is harder to read long posts not separated into sections or paragraphs. Doesn't matter who writes 'em it is just harder to read. So there may be some great points in the post, but many may skip it because it harder to read.

Those who write in all caps have gotten similar feedback (all caps is like yelling at someone in online communications). Heck I had that conversation with my mother some years back...however I still can't seem to get her to stop yelling into the cell phone...but its mom right.

Keep in mind Mods are DISsers too. They have a "job" to do here, but they also get to post and have the same love for Disney as many of us do.

This one has gotten emotional. Let's try to focus on the what rather than the who. I know I learn a lot more that way and enjoy the site so much better.

Sorry if this comes off too preachy, but it felt like a "timeout" was in order.

I would hope so. :) My response was meant to be funny. Probably wont be seen that way. ;)

If this post surprised so many people they'd be shocked to know what a stripper actually brings home! :scared1: LOL
