I cannot believe how hot it was. In all my years of going to Gator games, I have never EVER seen so many people in the breezeways as I have this game. I thought part of the stadium would fall down.
We lasted the first quarter and the girls and I went down to the breezeway. I got cups of ice for about 4 different people - they all looked like they were going to pass out.

So, V..how was the weather for the game? I heard it was kind of hot. :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

so what's a good weakness? I always struggle with that one.

I quit asking people that question - when I ask the people I hire that question they just look at me dumbfounded - so I quit. When they did answer, I never got an answer that meant anything. Good answers to that question I guess would depend on the job. Not sure what would be a good answer for an accounting position.

You want to hear the icing on the cake? They have 4 children, all the same age as ours! Our second to youngest is in preschool with their second to youngest. We had our babies about 4 months apart. So we have 12 more years together as I know they aren't moving. Hindsight of course, but I should have never asked him for help. I always knew the wife was a bit odd and not very friendly, but he has always been very friendly. For some reason, I thought he might be more normal even though she isn't, but since I had received that vibe from the wife (and was warned by other neighbors when we move in about her) I should have known he wasn't much different than her - just hides it better. People end up together for a reason and if half the apple is bad, chances are the other half isn't much better. My DH of course just says I should pray for them - which we all know is the way to go. But sometimes, it feels good just to vent and I want to thank my DIS family that I could do so on the boards without being judged. Thank you!
Lisa

Of course, now that you asked, you know the other half of the apple is rotten too, and don't have to wonder any more. I would steer clear. Too bad since the kids are so close.

See, I have to read . . . this is news to me too. What happened?

Knee surgery. Some little bit of something that does not show on an MRI, but can cause havoc later. They did an exploratory surg. and found it. He will need 10-12 months to rehab. He should be in good shape next year. The news folks here were talking about what a nice young man he is and how he (and his mom) kept saying how sorry he was. Nothing to be sorry about, it is an injury, it happens. The team doc said he might even come out of it better because when they are in rehab they tend to work even harder to get to their very best.

Furnace in the attic??? What kind of builders do you guys have up there in Lansing? If we were not 5 hours away, I would come up and light it for you Holly - it's not that hard to do.
Well, I don't have a basement, just a crawl space, and there's not enough space under there for it and there's no space in the actualy house to put it. Teeny, tiny house. Fortunately, it warmed up today and is supposed to be almost 90 in a couple days, so we'll be fine this week and I'll get up there anyway tomorrow or Tuesday to get our Halloween decorations down, so while I'm up there, I'll see if I can find where the pilot is and I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out. :thumbsup2

OK, that makes sense.

I am guessing older furnace since newer ones have electric ignition instead of a pilot light. There is usually a cover on the front of the unit, and when you take it off there may be a dial and a button. Typically, to light a pilot, you turn the dial to the pilot position, hold in a button, and light the pilot. You usually need to hold the button for about a minute, and when you let go, if the pilot stays lit, you then turn the dial to the on position. Just guessing, but most things I have dealt with that have a pilot work this way.

Do any of you listen to the NPR show Whad'ya Know?

This week they broadcast from our town, from the renovated Palace Theater. I missed the show, but just subscribed to the podcast so that I can get the show when they release it.

The game tonight that I thought would be good - NE and SD, has turned out to be a real stinker. 31-7.

And what's with these "Viva Viagra" commercials? Who is the genius who thought that tag line up? I bet if you put all those floating candles in the pool like the guy on the commercial, there would be no need to have a prescription.

Took me a while to catch up on the 10 pages I missed today. Love reading it all, but no time to respond to all.....too tired. Long day (but fun).

This morning, while still in his pajamas, Tyler had to try on all his hockey gear once again (except helmet). Gee, that kid sure has some BIG feet!

Went to Kalamazoo (about an hour and 20 minutes each way), stopped to visit with my dad and stepmom before the museum opened. They took us out to lunch. Next was the museum.

I love this because it sort of reminds me of a "Where's Waldo" pic. Where's Tyler? :rotfl:

Dinosaur exhibit was really cool! All the dinos were robotic and very realistic looking. Complete with roars and growls and whatever noises different ones made. There was even a nest with babies hatching out of eggs. Very cool!

In the dino exhibit area they had this big stuffed dino covered with felt, and a variety of body parts that attached with velcro. You could choose a head, tail, legs, and any type of horns you wanted on the head or spikes or plates on its back. REALLY fun! Tyler wanted a pic next to his creation. And then a worker asked him if he wants a job there while Tyler was cleaning up because he had never seen a kid hang all the pieces back on hooks on the wall after playing. :rotfl2:

Then after the museum we went to my mom's to visit on our way back to Lansing. She took us out to dinner for my belated birthday dinner. Didn't get back home until 9pm.

Holly, at my beach house, the gas company will come out for no charge to light a pilot. Maybe you should give them a call and see if they will help you

Thanks John! Your directions really help. I'll go check it out after work tomorrow. WAY too tired tonight to climb up into the attic and it's not too cold anyway. I'm hoping I can swing home and do that after work and before picking Tyler up from school because whenever I go in the attic while he's here, he begs and begs like crazy, wanting to go up with me. NOT happening....I can see him taking a step in the places you're not supposed to walk on and fall through the ceiling.

the company that my husband works for manufactures Viagra. We have notepads, notebooks. pens, ties for men and lots of other stuff with the logo on it. Maybe my husband should wear the tie on formal night!

Oh! That would be nice! I'll call them and ask. I have this fear in the back of my mind of doing something wrong and blowing us up. Imagination going way overboard, but I just can't help it!

That would "stimulate" some conversation.

Maybe you should bring some "goodies" for all the men on the cruise.
(you know, note pads and stuff)

:lmao: Everybody would think, "Hmmm.....he's going to have a great time later after dinner!" :rotfl2:
