July 2007 Rate/Code Watch

That is good Mylightshines !
I would consider switching myself, as I'm paying $241 (includes the tax) per night at the WL. But the discounts stop at Aug 4 :sad1: and we need Aug 4-8.
Congrats on saving the $$ though !!!

If the rate goes through August 4 and your arrival date is August 4, then that will include you. As long as your arrival date is in those dates, you get the AP rate for your whole trip.

We're also going at Christmas time. The value season ends on 12/19 and the holiday season starts on 12/20. Since we are arriving on 12/19, we get the value season rate for our entire trip!!! Unfortunately, it also works the other way around. If you were to arrive on the last day of holiday season, then you would pay the holiday season for the entire trip. (Of course, you could have two reservations to get around that).

Congrats to everyone who can use the discount! Can't use it as we are at the WL and don't want to change resorts. No worries though, I know it will still be a magical trip. Even if it does cost a little bit more.:flower3:

Tess,
Was the $204 for WL "woods" view a discount of any kind ? When did u book this ? I ask, because I'm paying $215 for WL "standard" (Aug 4-8) ? Just wondering........

It was a AAA rate. . .sorry, should have noted it! We were a bit miffed on that res because we had originally booked a standard and were told they would guarantee bunks. I thought it sounded odd, but my husband assured me the res agent booked it that way. A few months later I convinced him that was just not right and he called. Yep, you guessed it, we would have to "upgrade" our res and pay more to get bunks. He did that and the price was ridiculous to guarantee bunks. He called back and tried to revert to his just cancelled standard and, of course, it wasn't available. He took the woods view as a compromise. . .it was less pricey than the bunks if you can figure that one out--guess more demand for the bunks than view.

Anyway, this works out better provided we get our requested daybed at YC. Sleeping is much nicer in queens w/a daybed since our kids are older. ;)

Oh wow....I had totally forgotten this. Thanks Mylightshines and MrsGus06 !

Thanks Tess too for the explanation. We have three children and stayed at the BC last year because the daybed was a nice option for the 5th person. But this year, ds is not going with us (he's just a too-cool college kid now). So the 2 queens at WL will be fine for dh, me and two dd's. But I'm glad u got the good rate and that the YC will work out better for you all.

Is there any hope for a room only code for the general public in July? :confused3 We have reservations for the Poly from July 9-15. We currently have the value rate on a garden view...no AAA rooms left when I booked in March. Any tips on how I can reduce the room cost would be appreciated. We don't plan on switching resorts...20th anniversary and all three kids b-days.

Just got BWI Conc standard room for 324 a nt. July 21-27th....
Guess we will be moving from the poly to the bwi for this trip. :thumbsup2

They also had bwi standard room for 194 a nt. the person I spoke with told me that the BC and YC were all out of AP rates and no AP rates for deluxe MK resorts.

I was just called and got the AP rate for Boardwalk on July 20 ($218).

The CM told me that I could not book a package with dining for that room because I have an AP - The rest of my family would have a MYW hopper.

Has anyone else been told this? It doesn't sound right to me?

Chris

This is certainly exciting. The only thing is we really have our heart set on the Poly and have it booked for 7/12 - 7/29. Triple AAA rate of $275, plus tax. We love the BC and YC so now we have to decide if it's worth it to change. Does anyone know what the rates are looking like for BC/YC?

Ok, I feel much better...I was pretty nervous waiting for AP rates to come out thinking that mabye I could get a better rate on our BC ressie, and my rate is much less than the AP rate.......So this is weight off my shoulders :woohoo:

Thank goodness my son is not "too cool" to go with us despite his college status! :cool1: Actually, we feel blessed that both of our kids (the other will be 17 soon) still love to travel with us. Have a great trip! :woohoo:

That has always been the rule, Ap rates are room only and cannot be sold with packages.....Basically, if you want the package, you have to give up the AP discount. :hippie:

to see what the difference would be for us. We're currently booked at the Poly 7/21 for 8 nights with a AAA rate of $275 plus tax. I decided to see what the difference would be for the YC/BC with the new code. Luckily (sort of) the YC/BC wasn't available so that took away the need for that big decision.

The BW was available at $194 a night plus tax. Which would save us $770 from our current Poly trip. We're opting not to do that. If it were the YC/BC I would probably consider it. Darn it! The CM was very helpful and told me to keep checking b/c the YC/BC could open up and it would be the same price - $194 for a standard.

man - those YC/BC rooms went fast. How the heck did that happen. Did anyone get it?

I feel the same way! I was worried I'd have to give up my package if the AP rate was too good to pass up..
I think the AP rates are good but not that good.. and I don't want to give up dining to get them.

What were your rates/dates for the BC? Do you have dining also?

TIA

I paid $2013 for 5 nights at the BC and that includes dining & 3 1-day passes....I suppose it's not that much of a savings from the room-only AP rate, but we love the DDP and would rather keep the ressie that offers it.

I called earlier & was told that dates that I wanted were $269 at the BC. We already had AAA for $260 at the cabins where my DDs actually want to be for a change of pace. No AP rates for the cabins.

I think you got a better deal than I did...
I'm gonna be there from 6/23 - 7/03. 10 nights/dining 2-1 day base passes, 1 adult 1 child. My package was $3054. Not sure about the taxes and fees but I think that comes out to about $215-$220 a night?

We love the DDP too. Before the special packages and AP rates, I had AAA rates and a moderate resort so I could get the dining. I couldn't resist changing when I got the offer and I'm looking forward to it. The new AP rates are only a bit better than my rates now, but I get to keep the dining so YAY! :)
And YAY for everyone getting the APs finally!!

Have a great time!!

We will be at the BC 6/26 -7-3. 7 nights with dining and 7-day myw park hopper for 4 adults and 1 child. Our package total was $4266. Does that sound about right?

You just never know how long to hold out for and if it will be worth it.

NO Epcot resort AP rates for 7/14-7/20:guilty: Oh well I guess we can keep trying to see if something comes open

Okay, quick question...
I am pretty sure AP means Annual Passholders. Now, is it worth it to obtain an AP just for a one week stay? I wasn't sure how it worked or whatnot. We are booked for CBR for July 22-28 and have MYW plus DDP. We paid roughly $2000 total for the two of us (not counting airfare) through our TA. For the next trip around, could we have done better?
