It’s time to start gearing up for the onboard trivia. Answer the questions by talking to others or looking it up in your book or movie collections. Avoid the easy path of looking it up on the internet. I’ll start with the easy ones. Many will have multiple answers so many can play:

Day one - 68 to go
How many movies did Fred MacMurray make for Disney? Name them?[/SIZE]

My copy of Disney from A to Z lives by the computer. So as long as it's accurate that would be seven movies.

The Shaggy Dog
The Absent Minded Professor
Son of Flubber
Bon Voyage
Follow Me, Boys!
The Happiest Millionaire
Charley and the Angel

When I lived in Washington state we used to have trivia contests at our monthly NFFC meetings (the NFFC is a national Disney fan organization). And I've done a bunch of trivia challenges at the national convention, so if there is team trivia on the ship and anyone needs another player...

Ok, had dreams (delusions more likely) of upgrading to a cat 3 at the port. (stop laughing, it is just mean!!! ;) )

But a friend of mine and her mom and me were all at a bridal shower on Saturday and they got psyched about going. Well her mom, really wants to go but really wants a suite. So I had my friend who is a TA call DCL to see what was available. And after they got done laughing at her, and told her NO, she then inquired about handicapped staterooms with Balconies (cat 5 or6) and those are all gone also. So if they go (which she is just waiting for her Drs ok on) they are going to get a cat 4. So I thought I would share that there is no concierge and no handicapped staterooms available on 5/12. Major bummer!!! Oh well, we are still going to the Med!!:beach:

Milestogo - No I don't remember the details but I figure I will just ask a cab driver to take us to the fountains. I know that the fountains preform from 8 until 12. Since we can't miss the ship, I'm not worried about heading out on our own. That's what we do on other trips to Europe or we hop a bus, but with a 5yo it will be a cab.

This time Friday I will be heading to Puerta Vallerta!

Laura - The DCL website shows cat 4-12 are all available for our cruise. So if your friends want a 5 or 6 then they should call back.

Ken, Good to hear that Vista is working on new machines, I hear there are some great security features. I am kinda looking for a very light laptop to take on thios trip. Toshiba is in the lead at about 5 pounds.

Bob, Thanks man, I just caught a little of the announcement.

Mothers day reminder, WOW, thanks, that could be an expensive ship to shore call. Gotta do something before we sail. Thanks.

Looking like a busy week ahead, actually a busy three weeks.

Hope you all had a great weekend. The cruise is getting closer!:cool1:

:goodvibes Thank you to everyone who posted their cruise plans over the weekend. :) I loved reading what everyone is planning to do on our port days. Plus, before and after the cruise!

I haven't been able to decided on any excursions. I would really like to do a DCL excursion, but is would be so expensive with all 6 of us. My biggest problem in making plans, is that both of my boys have life threatening food allergies. :worried: If we stayed in the port for to long, we would have to feed them. We do not speak spanish, so I am very worried about how I can feed them safely. I have ordered the passporter guide. :scratchin I am hoping it will give me some ideas of what we could do on our own for a few hours, then head back to the ship get food for the boys.

Order room service and take it with you into town. We do that alot since we have a picky eater(5yo).

Hi all, we went to DL today and it was HOT and extremely crowded. The US National cheerleading competition was taking place with thousands of cheerleaders and their families.
...
Then we headed straight out of the park and went to CAdv. which was the most crowded I'd ever seen it in my life. We did, however, walk up at the right time to see the High School Musical Pep Rally twice.

Kelly - we were there also. It was insane. We also thought that we would escape to CA and arrived as the HSM Pep Rally was playing. We were probably near each other. We had Curt's youngest daughter (21yo) with us (in a wheelchair). We wanted water, but couldn't even find a place to get that without a huge line. We escaped over to White Water Snacks about 2:00. It was nice in there and we took advantage of their free ice water. Then we just decided to call it a day.

I think the next time we give it a try, it will be on the 16th which will be the day after Curt's last day at work.

Cindy - it depends on how much food. We have taken a lunch box, and then again we have taken a rolling cooler so we could have drinks and snacks too. I am sure that on some of our port days we will be taking something with us since I'm not sure what he will or will not eat. When we go to Mexico he seems to live on fruit, crackers and pizza. Be sure and take zip-lock bags to put the food in.

Gydell,

Thank you for the great information!:flower3: I will add ziplock baggies and a lunch box to my list.

What do you guys do about drinks? Should I bring a thermos?

Cindy - juice boxes, capri sun, or water with kool-aid favors. Also you can buy drinks.

OK Cindy, get your paper and pen out...

Allergies can completely incapacitate you and your family. I have a very serious shellfish allergy, plus we love food, so we are experts at food and travel. We travel the entire year with our lecture series and we try not to eat out or on the road - not only for health reasons, but if we did we couldn't afford these costly vacations!

Bring with you some of the plastic sports bottles with the pull top lids. Fill them with water to take on excursions. Bring blue painter's tape and label each one with each kids name. Bring 2 highliters, 2 sharpies. Use the tape to post daily schedules on the back of your door.

Go to Target, Walmart or Kmart and get some of the plastic beverage containers with screw tops to keep milk, juice and water in your cooler. Approx. 8 inches x 3-4 inches. Get different colors - about $1 each. Use your blue painter's tape to label each one and refill each night.

Bring a sponge with a very small travel size dish washing liquid to clean them out.

Each night order room service: peanut butter (if the kids can eat them) and jelly sandwiches. They are self contained and easy to pack to go the next day. Also, order the cookies as they are easy to take too. Pick up the bananas, grapes, dry cereal boxes crackers at Topsiders and Scoops. Make each child in charge of their own daily responsibility to pick up their own food, bring it back to the room and put it in their own lunch bag. They should check off their food list each day. If they kids can't eat PB&J pick up sandwiches fixens each morning and put them in your baggies.

Bring dozens of ziplock baggies in three sizes. Lunch bag, quart and gallon size. Roll them up and tie several rubber bands around them to use when you may need them. put plastic spoons, forks, knife inside the baggie roll. Tuck them anywhere in your luggage to use when you unpack.

Bring a clear over the door shoe holder and put the baggies and silverware in a designated pocket. Label the pockets with your blue tape. What goes where in advance and each child gets a pocket for junk!

Bring 2 or more soft sided lunch coolers (like Gydell said) and put your drinks and snacks in them for the pool or excursions.

This is the website for the best coolers we've ever found in our traveling life!
http://aocoolers.com/

They are soft sided and hold ice for easy 24 hours with no leakage. We have the 6 pack size and the back pack. We put the 6 pack size in the room cooler and leave it there. Each night we take 2 gallon baggies and fill them with ice. Put on at the bottom and one at the top. We also brought small tupperware like containers that insert into each other to conserve on space. We'd put cheese, fruit etc. in the cooler and it would keep for days. We always had food available. The back pack is so that we can take cold item with no problem. Jonathan will carry the backpack, I'm in charge of the lightweight collapsible stroller and camera, Zoe is in charge of her own entertainment backpack. We'll be mobile and always have breakfast on the buses. We are not morning people, so to get out for some of these excursions we will have to bring breakfast. We also want to pick up food in the cities we are visiting, so we can bring it back.

When I think of something else I'll let you know. All of you with picky eaters, check out this website. We have been very impressed with their gear.

PS: bring a door stop – the doors on the boat are heavy!

Now we're talkin some SERIOUS vacation planning!!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Although I do love the idea of bringing some containers that you can fill at the beverage station with milk and juice and soda and water and just keep in your room cooler/fridge thing. I often need to drink in the middle of the night and hate drinking the lukewarm water out of the tap. Being on the 8th deck this time (we've always been on lower decks before) the beverage station upstairs won't be such a hike, obviously, but nothign replaces the convenience of having it in your room.

I bet if you buy those bottles with screw-on lids that have a relatively large opening....you could even stuff your underwear, ties, socks into them when you're packing so they don't end up being wasted space inside your suitcases while you're traveling either!!

:tigger:
