As God is My Witness, I'll Never be Hungry Again - Finished w/lots of pics!!

What great reviews. We haven't gone to WDW in several years and I haven't been by the DIS boards much in a very long time but this was worth coming back to see. Now I can't wait for my trip but I'm glad my parents are staying home!

I really enjoyed your whole food report, but by far the absolute best part was Plankton! :rotfl: :rotfl: I wonder if DH will mind if I sneak my Plankton in the suitcase for this trip.... ;)

I've really enjoyed your food porn! It's 12:50, I'm still in my jammies & just enjoying the heck out of this!

Well, I might be able to get in a cup of that yummy looking Cafe Mocha on our next trip! We'll be staying at the BC afterall!! That tea looks so wonderful!

Grand Floridian Tea $$
Slipper Dessert $$
That Look on Your Face, after waiting for Mom PRICELESS!!!!! :teeth:

Thanks :thumbsup2

You Americans have it all wrong, those are scones, and biscuits are flat things you dip in your tea (preferably digestives) Why would anyone put gravy on biscuits, that look like scones...I always pass on that offering at breakfast in the US!!

Tea at GF looks quite good, but why isn't the tea cosy on the pot?! I'm not convinced that the cream is proper clotted cream...it looks piped and so that would be whipping cream.

My "last meal" would be a proper English Cream Tea from home.....we live in the Cotswolds so are spoilt for choice......but Cornwall and Devon fight over who is "best" at cream teas!! Perhaps I should see if I can get a ressie for Christmas week!! Looking forward to our week on DDP eating gourmet steaks and lobster that would bankrupt us here!

Now I need to go back and read all the rest of your food highlights......and I hope Family Warfare has simmered to a truce!

mmm chocolate covererd Digestive biscuits :)

or the jaffa orange ones, yum

That reminds me, must tell the husband to put jaffa cakes in my stocking....they sell them at my local grocer for a ridiculously marked up price. :teeth:

I posted this on the main restaurant board but I thought I'd post it here, too...

Through good fortune and perhaps the sale of some small portion of one or both of our immortal souls, Jason and I have landed V&A's Chef Table for both 5/28/07 and 5/29/07....

Needless to say we are only keeping one, and that will be the 29th because it is our anniversary and we are looking forward to celebrating with much food and wine.

Before I cancel the ressie for the 28th of May (Memorial Day) I'm willing to switch it for the first responder if someone who reads this is interested and if V&A will allow me to do it.

Otherwise, consider yourselves alerted that the CT will be available for 5/28/07 later on this evening (I gotta get home first before I can do much else at this point).

See ya later.... :goodvibes

Just came back to say thanks again...

Blaynexox - thanks for reading and I hope you're feeling better!!

Erica - you simply must go to afternoon tea...you live so close how can you not? And tell me more, all of you, about this mystical jaffa cake - I've never heard of this and it already sounds promising if it has chocolate... ;)

Jen - you and the girls need another trip to WDW and then you can try the tea! As for that dining tour...if only we were taking the same cruise next year. :guilty:

BriarRosie - your Figment pictures are hysterical! I especially love the cannon shot. It looks like something Figmnet might try just for fun.

Cass - I did not eat the mystery meat at afternoon tea, but Jason said it was similar to a pate' - not the best he's ever had but acceptable.

SPoppins - our anniversary is May 29th. As for the slipper dessert, I usually order it about 2 weeks in advance of the date that I want it for. Just call the GF bakery and be sure to have your restaurant ADR# and a credit card handy. I think I mentioned this earlier but if not it bears repeating - you can have this delivered to any restaurant at the GF and I think CRT in the Magic Kingdom. I don't think it's available anywhere else, but you can always confirm that when you call.

Yzerbear19 - I will definitely stop by and post some additional pictures of Plankton. My husband actually made a 6-minute movie starring Plankton at WDW but I don't know how to save it from the disc to a place online where people could view it. Does that make any sense at all?

Shovan - :lmao: :lmao: Your post was priceless!! And for what it's worth, all family irritations disappeared as soon as we got home. Actually our plane was headed to Las Vegas after spitting us out in St. Louis and we had to pry my mother's fingers from the cabin door on the way out because she didn't want to de-plane. :teeth:

I hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did just let me offer up a huge thanks to all of you who took the time to read and who took the time to post - I had a lot of fun writing this and you guys all made it even more enjoyable.

Happy Holidays!! :goodvibes

OurDogCisco, Jusmom, Twinmom, LisaF, Fiona, phisigprincess...thank you for reading - I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for taking the time to put this all together for everyone. I have enjoyed reading your musings so much. You have an incredible flair for writing so if that is not your avocation, it should be!! :)

I especially wanted to thank you for the GF Tea report. This has been something I've wanted to do for a long time and after reading your report and seeing the pictures, I will definitely book it for our next trip.

Can you tell me if there is a dress code for the Tea or is SPA (Standard Park Attire ;) ) acceptable?

Thanks so much for your kind comments! :goodvibes

Standard park attire is just fine - I was wearing a cotton t-shirt, a pair of shorts, and tennis shoes, and they were still more than happy to take my Disney gift cards and excess cash!

We've seen people dressed all sorts of ways and actually I'd love to show up for tea in a flowery sundress with a big floppy hat ala' Scarlett O'Hara some day, but that's just not convenient when you're tooling around the MK! :teeth:

I hope you enjoy your GF tea when you're at WDW - it's really quite nice!

Thanks very much for the information and the laugh! Just think how many of us would tune in to read your report if you DID show up for tea as Scarlett!

For whatever reason that making a reservation for Afternoon Tea reminds me of this, I'd love to show up as Miss Marple and proclaim in a very proper British accent "It was Mr. Boddington, in the library, with a candlestick".

Rousing game of Clue anyone? :teeth:

It was sponsored by InBev and featured five beers: Becks Premium Light, Brahma, Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, and Bass Ale.
Hurray (sp?) for the Belgian breweries!

Stella was tasty and did you know that Artois is pronounced "Our-Twa" rather than "Our-Toes"?
It's pronounced Ar-Twa, actually. The A as well as OI from Artois is pronounced the same way as the A in Stella. Or Cinderella.

BTW, Hoegaarden can't taste good when they serve it in a plastic cup. You need the jampot-like real glass to really enjoy it!

(Sorry, I need to defend some of my Country's prides!) (the other prides are chocolates and waffles, btw!)

I've been told that amuse bouche means "happy mouth" and it's never specified on the menu
Sorry, it doesn't mean happy mouth. It actually means "something for your mouth to enjoy" or "something that keeps your mouth happy". "Amuser" means having fun, so Amuse-bouche is make-sure-your-mouth-has-fun, lol!

This is also a fish and was it ever good! But I couldn't help marveling at the size of the dish it was served in. If there are mice in the kitchen who like to skateboard I bet they love that bowl.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

BTW, I can't understand why your mom looks so... grumpy? on that picture with Minnie Mouse. I mean, how can someone not have a shiny, happy face if Minnie Mouse herself is wlling to go on the picture with you!

puolukka2.jpg

This is supposed to be a ligonberry. Thanks Google, for that. Have never seen it myself. But I usually never really look out for berries.

I really LOVED this dining review report!!!!

Bravo Brenda!! Now get your butt back to the Oct 20th cruise thread!! :yay:

I really LOVED your reviews!!!!! :thumbsup2 If your mom wasn't already with your step-dad, I think she would be a great partner for my dad. He too has a disappearing top lip....

Jaffa Cakes

:thumbsup2

Hi everybody! :wave2:

Just stopping by to thank everyone again for reading - I've really enjoyed reading all of your comments.

SandraVB79 - thanks for all the information, especially the lingonberry picture! Some day when I make it to Belgium I pormise to try the Hoeergaarden one more time! :teeth:

Terry's Angels - too funny! I will contact you immediately if my mother decides to look for a new mate... Lip-less Elders of the World, Unite! :teeth:

Erica - thanks for the link to the Jaffa Cakes. I will have to give those a try.

MP2002 - thanks for reading! My mom really is a good sport, despite what the pictures and my report may imply. :goodvibes

Nancy - I'm slowly making my way back to the cruise thread, I promise!

Hey Brenda, where's the trippie? I know I'm not the only one eagerly anticipating it!
